[SOLVED] Character walks left while no key is pressed (using keyboard)
Hello, i'm trying to play the demo, but i cannot control my character. As soon as the first level starts, it just runs left whatever the key binding for the "walk left" command is. I am currently trying to play with a keyboard, although i have a 3D Connexion Space Pilot 6DOF mouse connected.
As of now, i tried the following:

- restarted the game several times: the problem remains
- restarted the computer: the problem remains
- changed the keybinding for the "walk left" command to some other key: the problem remains
- changed the keybinding for the "walk left" command to "None": the problem remains
- tried to press the "walk right" command while the character goes left: result is the character stands still as if nothing was pressed (i can still do other actions like jumping while doing so and the character responds accordingly). It's like the left and right command cancel out.
- tried to play with the SpacePilot mouse both connected or disconnected: the problem remains in both cases
- tried to move the SpacePilot mouse while playing to see if it was related to the problem: no movement of the mouse affected the character at all (it kept going left)

Is there any kind of log or report that i can provide to help investigate the issue?
Thank you!

Well I'd say it's the mouse, but if you've played with the mouse disconnected, that's obviously not it.

Do you have any other peripherals plugged into your computer? Like a joystick or a controller? Sometimes if you have something connected, it's sending input to the game even though you're not using it.

My other suggestion would be to disconnect the mouse, reboot the computer, and then try running the game with another mouse plugged in just in case the OS is doing something funky like remembering the mouse's input even when it's disconnected. It sounds ridiculous, but honestly I've seen weirder things happen.

Let me know how it goes, if you're still having problems I'll get in touch and we can continue trouble shooting in private. Believe me, I want you to play our game! :B1:

You could go to Properties → Set Launch Options and put, for example:

%command% &> ~/.lgodemolog

I've just tried it myself, to check how it works, but I don't get all that much information:

ERROR: ld.so: object '/home/matt/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_64/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64): ignored. Found path: /home/matt/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/LifeGoesOnDemo/LGODemo.x86 Mono path[0] = '/home/matt/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/LifeGoesOnDemo/LGODemo_Data/Managed' Mono path[1] = '/home/matt/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/LifeGoesOnDemo/LGODemo_Data/Mono' Mono config path = '/home/matt/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/LifeGoesOnDemo/LGODemo_Data/Mono/etc'

P.S. And Malitiatus arrived while I was honing my message. All the best resolving this, guys. And… hurry up, tomorrow! hurry up! My Library is ready and waiting.

Looks like we need a calibrate option for game pads.

I'm having the same issue as the OP. no buttons pressed, character walks to the left. push the button to walk right, character stays still.
looking forward to really getting to play this game :)

apologies for the double post but I felt this might deserve more than an edit.
I managed to fix the problem on my computer. I had a gamepad emulator set up (I had never used it and had forgotten to uninstall it). now that I've uninstalled it, the game works fine.

You are right! I had VJoy installed (i used it for a previous game) and after i removed it, the problem was solved!

Thank you and everyone that put effort for solving this problem!

I'm having the same problem as others. I don't have V Joy on my PC or anything similar.
