The game currently lets the player swing a weapon only when an opponent is next to them. Well, this leads to some very frustrating situations when a wolf is charging at the player and trying to swing the weapon so that the timing is just right to have it hit the wolf before it attacks the player leads to the character just not doing anything with the weapon, and then getting hit by the wolf.
It should be possible to swing the weapon any time the player chooses. That's freedom, that enables more role-playing, that's satisfying, that's immersive, and that ensures that the frustrating situation in combat that I described above won't happen.
Another thing I would like to see is the removal of the "press left-click to continue, press Enter to skip" message during dialog. It's OK to see it during the first opening scenes in the game, but after that it's not needed and it looks tacky and hurts immersion.
1.4 was the last patch for now. We may release another patch again some day, but it is not guaranteed at this point.
Some of the things you're asking for are engine changes (I'm guessing that's true for draw distance), and others could be modded in if someone was so inclined (like whether you can attack people on the same team or if you have to be close, and UI stuff like "click to continue").
