Stuck on Press any key screen? Look here!
Hi guys,

it looks like our new input system has a hard time detecting the proper setup for everyone, so I'm providing a few possible fixes here:

First of all, if you've had this issue before the time this is posted, I'd like you to try again because we released an update that was supposed to fix this.

Second: try opening the chat with enter and writing /resetsettings.

Third: If you still can't get past the screen we'll need an output_log from you, please send it to support@betadwarf.com along with the specs of your computer. Tell us what OS and what hardware you're using, this will help a lot in figuring it out!

I hope you will remain patient with us, as always, improvements need testing before they're completely stable :)

More suggestions:

- A user had success with getting past press any key after disabling the Steam Overlay, please tell us if that solves the problem, it helps us track down the issue

- Try setting the Launch options of FORCED in Steam to -force-d3d9, we're having trouble with DX11 on windows 10

- Some users have reported that a device called "vjoy" is blocking our input. It's a joystick related device, and when they turn it off in Device Manager the game works fine.
Try disabling any joystick related drivers in your device manager.

I was stuck for a bit. Looked through your log and saw an initialization of vjoy device. I went in my device manager and disabled it. The game is working fine now. Prior to the fix I would see Space and X flicker between each other in the opening screen on the top right.

Thanks this helped me out as well.

That's great information, thank you. Do you have any idea what device it's related to?

I just added this:
- Some users have reported that a device called "vjoy" is blocking our input. It's a joystick related device, and when they turn it off in Device Manager the game works fine.

Can you check it out and tell me if that helps?

If not, can you send us an output log (localetd in the data folder in local files) and tell us which OS and hardware you're using?

We just released a patch that fixes the cases we could replicate, so I'm interested in hearing if it's still happening for people

The patch worked on my end - I also had a gamecube controller plugged in through the Wii U adapter, which may have confused it. Either way, thanks!

I had this issue, and I managed to get rid of it by going into Properties > Local Files > Check cache integrity. It downloaded a few files and everything worked after that.
Before this, text such as "Press any key" or "Press space to continue" appeared as "**PressAnyKey**" and "**Continue**" as if the game couldn't read the translation files. The issue might come from here ?

By the way, when my friend invited me to a multiplayer game it stated that I wasn't in the same steam game as he was.

When did this invite bug happen? We haven't been able to find any issues with the invite feature, Could you give us some details (OS, hardware) and send the output_log.txt from your local files to support@betadwarf.com?

The invite bug occured 3 days ago, but I think it is linked to the Press any key bug because it fixed at the same time. I'll still send you what you asked asap.

Well if it's no longer occurring we won't have much use for the log, but if it happens again let us know :)
