2 player local Co-op
Hello. I'm wondering if there is possibility to play local co-op using two xbox controllers on my laptop. I often like to play with my GF and this game seems to be a lot of fun. Is there a possibility to play this localy?

Yes, the game supports up to 4 local players. :)

Careful. Trying the game out with my GF was how I got sucked into all of this. =P

Bought game, doesn't work very well. I managed to choose co-op once with 2 controllers on one PC. It's buggy as hell. Can't really seem to play it. Will try to reinstall the game.

Can you elaborate on what kind of bugs you are experiencing, and we'll help you as best as we can!

Well after reinstalling the game I am not able to pass 'Press any key' screen. If I use keyboard it doesn't work, but the enter key for chat works. If I use my Xbox One controller there is **button**not*su message in top right corner of the screen :/

Ok, after unplugging the controllers I was able to pass into the menuses. There seems like the default configs are missing from the controller. As far as I can see I need two separate keybindings for each controller as they are somehow connected with each other. The other thing it's impossible to navigate to the 'Create game' in the co-op menu using controller. Once controllers are configured with the same key binding one is recognized, but when I press 'X' on the other one it states 'Couldn't find user'

That's the new input system which seems to have a problem with Xbox One controllers on some setups.
If you press with the mouse on the Press any key screen, do you get a message about resetting all inputs? Try pressing confirm on that and seeing if that helps you get past it.

If that doesn't work, try opening the chat and writing /forgetsaves. This will reset all your settings (won't touch your saves) and should make keyboard and mouse work just fine.

Also, I just pushed a new update that should help fix some of these input issues, so if you try restarting Steam and downloading the newest version it should work better.

Out of curiosity; did you have a controller plugged in when you first started the game?

Yes, booth controllers were plugged before starting as from my experience there are games out there that require controllers to be connected @ start. If you mean the first run I don't remember. WIll try the /fogivesaves option and will let you know :)
I'll check all of this. I use to play with Feb+mouse and two X-Box controllers (3 players) without problems before updates...

Well I found the issue. Every controller needs separate keybinding, so if booth are set for XInput thingy it doesn't work properly. Once I've set Xbox One controller to Xinput and the X360 to Xbox 360 (default) it works fine :) Also as a side note, the polish translation is quite bad as from seen on menuses and first screen. It could use some love. Not sure if it's because of hard coding or just bad translator involved. I may note you some tips for changing it so it's more like polish language and not google translate one. And yes, we - poles - know it's difficult.

Also small update just downloaded, I can see the xbox buttons through menu navigation which is great!

EDIT: a lot more checking and here are conclusions for everything:
- controllers need to have the key bindings configured separately
- desired primary player controller needs to be selected via imput menu (xbox one in my case)

After those I was finally able to create co-op game with the xbox one controller as primary and then joining on-screen using the xbox 360 controller (with the profile name BFF1). I have noone to test it through the game at this point, and I'm not very good with controllers, therefore I will let you know once I will be able to check it with someone.

Thank you so much for that write-up, it really helps us figure out the issues with the system!
We'll take a look and see if we can make it more intuitive :)

Let me know if you need any help with the Polish translation too. Not sure if you have a person responsible for QA, and I could help you out in free time :)

I have a similar problem with two wireless XBox 360 controllers on Ubuntu 14.04. I can start the game with either one but as soon as I use one, the other one stops to function completely. I tried using XInput but then both controllers stop working so I can only use the XBox 360 option. The log says something about failing to load the XInput library:

Fallback handler could not load library [...]/Steam/SteamApps/common/FORCED/FORCED_lin_86_64_Data/Mono/x86_64/XInputInterface
Fallback handler could not load library [...]/Steam/SteamApps/common/FORCED/FORCED_lin_86_64_Data/Mono/x86_64/libXInputInterface.so

At the current bargain my workaround is probably just buying another copy and playing on two computers. But it would be nice to have it looked at anyway ;-)

Did you try creating two setups in the Input setup menu and making each controller use a different setup?

I'll try to see if we can get Xinput working based on what you posted, it's really the best option for handling controller input.
Szczypior Oct 14, 2015 @ 3:31am
Well, you could try to create new profile and configure this new profile manually. It should work as this seems like the issue between config file of key mapping and device. Having those two configs separately could solve it. Try it out and let devs know :)

BUG: After alt+tabbing from game controller stoped responsing. It is working again after exiting to menu. Unpluging and repluging didnt work in-game.
