Wisp - WTF, Totally stupid!
So I'm in a map and I've killed the 4 Caymans. There are 4 wisps in there, but luckily only 1 active.

I've been here for ages trying to kill it. It's immune to piercing damage, so arrows and spear no good. Immune to infantry damage, so Naurims 2 handed bashing no good, Immune to slashing damage, so main characters 2 handed sword no good. Immune to fire, Witch's Bile(poison), Wrath of the Elements, and when it drops in a hole in the swamp it doesn't hurt it. I finaly found that Cold shock did very small amounts of damage to it. Even though I'm maxed out(18) in cold shock, my percentage chance to cast was 36%. WTF. Another example of the game being ridiculous. Map finaly let me out after I killed just the near one. Probably 40 very tedious minutes.

Games shouldn't be like this!

Perhaps it might be vulnerable to magical damage?
And maybe you remember an odd "bone mace" found in the goblin camp in ch 1?

In most RPGs are creatures, which are immune to certain attacks. No reason to call the entire game "bad" just because you didn't figure out, how to beat the wisp.

Lol. I sold the bone mace when I first had it. I posted that I tried every magic spell I had, and the only one that worked was Cold Shock, and even though I'm supposed to have 99% chance, I actually had 36% chance, and when I hit it, it was a very low roll.

A 'fun' game is not one where I have to keep every obscure bit of weaponry, becuause at some stage it just might beat something that nothing else will. The weight issue is a major factor, so you can't carry loads of spare weapons, and even if by some fluke I had it, I wouldn't be able to equip it unless it was already in one of my weapon slots.

What you're saying is, if I'm not clairvoyent and don't know I'm going to need a very ineffective 'Cold Shock' spell, or a Bone Mace before I enter that battle - It's my stupid fault for not figuring it out?

Lol - it's the games supid fault for making me spend 40 tedious minutes in a map, just becuase I was lucky enough to have Cold Shock. If I didn't have it, I couldn't have touched the thing. Totaly stupid - the game, not me.

Incidentally, I've tried a bone mace, and yes it's very effective. Just how am I supposed to know I'm going to need one, and how do I carry it? Suppose I'm going to have to increase strength over other abilities I'd rather have just so I can carry extra weapons.

I am on one of those turn limit quest that has lots of......guess what? Poison.
I am forcing myself to remain calm. :)

I rename this game to Poison Rageguards.

@stevethebarbarian

Well, as I said, in most games of this kind we have creatures, which are immune to almost anything. As you have seen, the wisp went down quickly with the said weapon.
It's the only weapon with "magical dmg", so I kept it, because I thought, there must be a use for it. BTW, later you find a stronger version of this mace, which is really a decent weapon.

The other thing is, that we are forced to "meta gaming". We can't flee a battle and return later, we must reload an older save, go buy the equipment or learn the needed abilities, return and finsish the fight.

In many threads this criticism has come up and was yet unanswered by the devs.

I tried, everything. Even sent everybody next to the other wisps who were yucking it up and the other side of the map, thinking... maybe they giving it power, lol.
And then i got frustrated and just sorrounded the little ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with everybody and started to bash him anyways with all my chars.... and then, out of nowhere, 1 damage! Aurelia had equiped the magical dagger i got after the "SUPAKAWAI MEGABULLSHIT" fight at the heart of the forest ( i remember that fight well, my butt clutches even now).
I just pelted 1 to 3 points of damage at the ♥♥♥♥♥♥, very slowly, until it died.
From that day i got 8 of everything.

Also, spells are linked with your atributes. Usually 3, it says at the description of the spell.
If those atributes are low, then your chances also go down.

Rageguards 2, coming to PC, 2014

I have been watching a series of very good 'lets play Blackguards ' videos on youtube.
Last night the author basically rage quit. He was trying to stay calm, but you could hear the anger in his voice.
Haha! Seems everyone is doing the rage shuffle with this game. I hope the games future doesn't suffer to much because of it.
Hey guys,

the wisp will be removed in the next patch :)

It would be OK it being there, if one of the characters mentioned when you get bone mace - "I hear there's things in the forest you can only kill with magic weapons", or something like that. Then you couldn't complain if you didn't have it.

:)

I own the game but have not installed it yet... I am assuming there are other reasons to removing the wisp than 1 guy complaining?
piski Jan 7, 2014 @ 10:33am
Don't think simple removing obstacles is a good thing. Just give a hint in a conversation with healer guy or something. You can also buy these magic bone maces for 25g from the merchant at the same location as the quest giver. And once you know the trick Wisps are very easy to kill.
General Malaise Jan 7, 2014 @ 11:04am
Guess taking it out is the easy option.

It would be quite easy to enter that battle, with no possible way to get out. If I'd not learned Cold Shock, I would have been in that situation. As it was, it took ages

People would not be happy with that scenario. A 'clue' the Bone Mace, or some magic weapon is needed would be fine.

Or at least the option to just... been able to leave once you killed one or all caimans? like what happens when you go gathering cript lice for lysander. If you start stripping things because some people complains...
