Why does 12x scope zoom back off?

I keep running into a phenomenon with the 12x scope zoom backing off to a lesser zoom. I.e. I start to aim and suddenly the scope backs off. It's not tied to anything I'm doing as far as I can tell. It's really aggravating. Is this a glitch or what?

Its a well-known glitch that happens with all of the snipers zooms, not just the 12x. It is aggravating but as of yet, their is no solution.
Will, there be a solution? I can't see the developers showing any interest in a game thats this outdated despite the fact it still has a big fanbase. A lot of people, myself included, still prefer this game to BF3 as, lets be honest, that game sucks in comparison.

Saved me when that happened sometime, otherwise the scope just blocked what I'm missing those sec.

I'm a Battlefield noob, but when I play, it seems that when I aim with any weapon seconds within spawning in, it zooms out. I guess just wait a couple seconds after spawning to aim down your scope.

It only appeared in the second to last update we had. They fixed it in the 3rd to last update though.

Happens to me sometimes, but here is the weird thing I get it with every gun not just snipers.

I really hate this bug wish they would fix it. I also have noticed just shooting regularly unscooped my crosshair will get much bigger making it harder to hit a enemy.

I've read other places that it only happens on servers with modified spawn times, and only for the first time you look down the scope after your spawn. I haven't verified that, though. So just zoom in whenever you spawn, and you should be good afterwards.

^This is correct. It has to do with servers that have "fast" respawn. When you hit the normal respawn time, it resets your zoom level to 1x even if you're already aimed with an optic above that. You then have to release ADS and ADS again to get the proper zoom level back.

And yes, it's been verified for years now. If you zoom in right after spawning in a "fast" respawn server, it will drop to 1x when it hits the normal respawn timer. Every time. Then it goes back to normal for every zoom after that, until you die again.
