Serial Key Solution

EA and STEAM failed to provide the right serial key to activate the game so you have to get one from EA via customer support chat takes about 5 minutes if you follow these steps to provide proof of purchase. It took some research but I broke everything down easily in the steps below and I also included the relevant links at the end of this post.

***Please comment/like to keep this relevant so people can get help with this issue.***

Step 1: On steam go to account details and account history and click view purchase history to see the transaction for Battlefield Badcompany2. Click on the Battlefield Badcompany 2 transaction to get an enlarged screen that shows only badcompany details (i.e. it shows the date of purchase, purchase price, etc) Take a screenshot of your entire screen from top to bottom windows bar and all.

***EA doesn't accept cropped images.***

Step 2: Go to the email associated with your steam account and pull up the proof of purchase email for Badcompany2 zoom out as far as you can while still including the relevant info (i.e. purchase price, date of purchase etc) Take another screenshot from top to bottom.

Step 3: Use the link below and click on the purple text "Get help from adviser without logging in"

Step 4: Fill out the info and click next, Under recommended support option click chat and fill out the Subject line, (I wrote "STEAM Bad Company2 does not come with activation key").
****MOST IMPORTANT STEP****
Click the attach files box and be sure to attach both screenshots that we just took above. (you can do them one at a time it will load both)

Step 5: Click request live chat, they will ask for your EA account email and whats wrong etc. just provide them the info and refer them to the screenshots and they will give you the serial key that you need if you followed the steps above. Then just launch the game and put the key in its time to play some BC2, my IGN is xEnvyx see you out there.

***If anyone needs help with DLC activation Redeem code is under the multiplayer tab in game, also the prompt for the Vietnam DLC code will come up automatically after clicking Vietnam.***

Hi, I recently bought this game and wanted to pay it with a friend of mine, as we used to play this game so much as a kid. Sadly though "Get help from adviser without logging in" isn't an option and nor is talking to an advisor live (like it's there but clicking on it doesn't change the page). Please help!

The link works fine for me on windows 10. Basically you just have to get into an EA support chat just google EA customer support and it should bring you to their site and then you just search the game you need help for and talk to a representative.

Went through all that and they tell me to contact steam for the issue because they don't see a problem. Nice.

Thank you hero. EA is very slow on support, but they ended up adding ownership of game onto Origin rather than giving us a key. Hate using Origin, but found out you can still launch and connect the game through steam once it's approved without having Origin open. It just stops asking for a key once it's attached to your email.
EDIT: It VERY much depends on the agent you get. Make sure you inform them that there is no issue on steams end of launching the game, but rather the games multiplayer access by EA verification of the purchase key. Mayank was very useful, Gordman was not.

Yeah the customer support chat is based in India so all these agent names are random and each person may or may not help you. Basically you just need to prove purchase to someone competent and they will help you be able to play the game.

Thank you for this post! Got resolved pretty quickly, Issue was that my steam account was not linked to my EA account they helped me through that process, only thing now I have to run the game from Origin Access :!

It all works now. Thank you so much. Just make sure to link your Origin and your steam, you can do so by downloading Apex and launching it. After that, contact support with all the screenshots. They will add it to your origin. download it again through origin and start it up.

You might be able to play from Steam now and uninstall it from Origin. I just needed it add, didn't have to install it.

I just got my serial key, 30 minutes ago!!! (march 2021) but for some reason I always get kicked from every session I join what the ♥♥♥♥ is going on?

that the next fail - they still use punkbuster for that - PB is totaly outdated
i lost 3 games becasue of a wrong ban BFBC2 and BF3 were the same GUID
