Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam - IS IT WORTH IT?
Hello, Steam Community!

So, I'm here to ask if a certain expansion to the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer is worth the purchase... This expansion is Vietnam.

I've seen Vietnam gameplay and I think it's pretty awesome, therefor I'm wanting to buy it. But before I buy it... The main question that lies ahead is - How Active Are The Multiplayer Servers?

From what I have read, multiplayer is dead.

So Vietnam is still active by hundreds to thousands?

But for Vietnam DLC, its only 1 to 3 populated servers - not many but enough for me at least.

There is a modded server for vanila BFBC2 servers, which plays Vietnam maps, which you can get in without the Vietnam DLC (but I couldn't get on it - kicked because ping too high)

I know if I purchase the DLC, I'd be able to get onto servers with an exceptional connection. (not 500 ping BS)

How populated are these, and what are their difficulty?

Hardcore, basic, full, half-full?

No, not at full price. On a average day, you'll get maybe 1 populated server and only on Conquest if you're lucky. Vietnam really excels on Rush and that is dead. I prefer to play that over plain vanilla BC2. You'll have better luck with the modded servers since they're always full for obvious reasons, but you 'll have to deal with background flying tanks in lieu of choppers, snipers camp all day with no replay, delays between uses of the gernade launcher and a host of other BS glitches and rules. If you want pure gameplay, buy the DLC , but only below $5 and get a group together to host a match.

Sadly, I usually play alone. And I don't usually trust modded-servers because of various reasons.

So, for the December Sales, is it worth the price?

Oh yes, the Multiplayer is active.

This topic is asking whether or not the VIETNAM DLC is worth buying (player activity) though.

I got the Vietnam DLC, and I love Vietnam setting in games. But these days, I tend to spend majority of BFBC2 time on the vanilla side, even though I can always get at least one populated conquest server on Vietnam DLC.

Would I miss the Vietnam DLC if I don't have it?
I think probably no.

So the question to everybody responding is... Do you personally think the Vietnam DLC is worth purchasing?

I'm looking for...

1. Great gameplay
2. A decent amount of weapons
3. Semi-Active servers (at least 1 or 2 full servers)

These are all my personal opinion (may be the oposite for someone else):

1. Great gameplay, comparable to vanilla, but not that much better
2. Comparable to vanilla as well - not anywhere as many as in BF3/BF4 of course (but some people like me are not excited with too many weapons and attachments - it's not bad, but not really what I need in a game)
3. Vietnam - 1 to 3 servers the most. I tend to find at least one server half-filled (but at the same time, I don't play Vietnam that often so my opinion on this is not really solid)
