If not the MG36, the VSS is the next best. It's a 4 shot kill at any range (2 shots if you're pinging people in the head), fully automatic, and has incredibly good hip fire accuracy for a sniper rifle. In fact, nerfing the rate of fire would actually be a buff for the gun, because it would make scoped kills easier to pull off. It's one of the hardest weapons to use, but its ridiculously good once you master it. The VSS is a hackusation machine.
For engineer, it's a bit more up in the air. Most of the guys I played with liked the AKS-74U. I'm a 9A-91 guy though for that high damage and clear iron sights (meaning I can run ammo). There isn't really a best gun for the engineer though.
I generally dislike assault rifles, but if I have to use one, it's the M416 for it's high damage and low first shot recoil. It's good for hitting people when only their heads are sticking up. IMO, assault rifles are just too inaccurate at medium to long range compared to LMGs to justify their use. The assault is good for ammo and c4 with the all-kit weapons. That's about it.
Speaking of all-kit weapons, the Neostead is just THE best shotgun, Period. It's objectively superior to the other two pump actions, and with the re-chamber glitch, it can be fired almost as fast as the automatic shotguns. Put slugs in it and you can one-shot somebody in the head literally all the way across the map.
TL;DR: It's a toss-up between the MG36 and VSS.
I'm really not trying to be a ♥♥♥♥ here, but this is just incorrect. The T88 is statistically inferior to the MG36 in almost every way.
...................T88...............MG36
Damage: 14.3 - 12.5.....14.3 - 12.5
ROF:.........650 RPM.......750 RPM
Reload:.........6 s................3.7 s
1st shot
Recoil:...........9°.................11°
Follow up
Recoil:.........0.48°...............0.5°
Spread
per shot:.......0.5................0.43
That reload speed on the MG36 is a huge advantage. Having 100 rounds less is barely an issue when you consider reload speed. It has slightly higher first shot recoil, but due to the built in red dot sight, you can line those shots up way more accurately.
The real issue with the T88 is spread added per shot. You can control recoil without penalty, but the only way to control spread is to burst fire. This means you need to cut your alrealy low rate of fire even further to compete with the automatic fire accuracy of the MG36.
Medic M60 + x4 scope
Engineer PP2000
Sniper M95
all with magnum ammo perk
The gun is garbage you damned hipster.
shotguns and smgs great for short range but cant compete w assault rifles and snipers in medium and long range (unless you use spas 12 w slugs but thats a completley different topic)
