Multiplayer is one of the advertised features, maybe they don't want to gamble lawsuits or something. Community servers are not something they supported but it just came.

They don't care, they sell many games with unplayable mp, even if they sold Darkspore no one would sue them.

Possible tinfoil hat take below:
It wouldn't surprise me that their next entry in a few years would be Bad Company 3 and they are preemptively getting rid of the old ones so you can only play the new one if you want more bad company.

Whatever the case may be a sequel will more or less be just as any other Battlefield game because DICE themselves have admitted they had no clue why BFBC2 became so popular compared to other entries. Not to mention that the game came out over 10 years so most who worked on BFBC2 probably aren't at DICE anymore.

I just tested on Origin Standard Edition
I have SPECACT for free on official server and Vietnam works without owning the DLC on community server.
Don't burn your money, refund if you bought the bundle and get base game, no need to give EA any extra cents for their disgusting behavior.

Until large numbers of people stop buying from EA, this is how it will be. BC2 is the best battlefield I ever played. I got loads of enjoyment out of it but I won't be buying it if there's no servers to play it on. (I only ever owned the PS3 version anyway)
