I just went through this process and got in touch with an EA Advisor using that https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/?product=origin link - they added the game to my Origin account for free after I provided proof of purchase here on Steam. Had to do it twice because the first time my screenshots were cropped (you can attach files before you get in contact with an EA Advisor), so the first guy told me to get some screenshots like its says here: https://help.ea.com/en-in/help/account/how-to-provide-proof-of-purchase/ yall can save time by already attaching them to the case. The EA Advisor will send you a one-time code to your Origin e-mail just to verify ownership of your EA Account.
You can also save time by linking your Steam account to your Origin account beforehand (they'll tell you to do this to verify that you own both accounts) - Simply log in here using your Steam account (there's a little Steam button you can click to sign in): https://help.ea.com/en/
It takes around 5-10 minutes. I hope this helps. ♥
I've spent over 6 hours chatting with EA, no resolution at this point and Steam doesn't want to honor a refund. This is pretty ridiculous...There are tech's just dumping the interaction midway through a resolution and everything.
tl:dr if you bought Bad Company 2 on steam you can only play Vietnam and Singleplayer, not regular multiplayer because it's reserved only for Origin and EA players.
I submited the proofs as requested, my account is linke but the 2 advisors I talked too told me that the team that validates the purchase could not validate and told me to ♥♥♥♥ off
