What that request was, in what context, or how anyone thought that was a reasonable thing to do, I don't know, obviously. (Neither will I have the opportunity to find out, since I have about as much access at EA nowadays as someone trying to log in to their Origin account in a secure way).
But you can be fairly certain that it's an exploit at Origin's "redeem"-system, in that people would buy the product on sale at steam, and then redeem the game in their Origin-library.
So rather than remove the serial-key requirement from the steam-release, or create steam instances on the online for validation -- they've just removed the keys. Because ♥♥♥♥ the customer, for no reason whatsoever XD.
That's like the motto at Valve and EA now, isn't it. We have social media and paid promoters who love the game, so ♥♥♥♥ the rest of you, you demanding little brats: you want the game to work when you buy it for money, well ♥♥♥♥ you!
there is only 1 solution for this..
1.go to https://help.ea.com/ , create an account(if you dont have) or sign in with origin account
2.go to help with a game and search your game and select that
3.select a topic like codes and .. and steam platform.. fill all sections and make your CASE.
4.then connect to live chat or online chat with EA admin
5.you need 2 screenshot, 1. game purchase page in steam 2.purchase email steam sent to you when you buy the game
6.talk to admin and send that screanshots
7.they ganna add that game in your Origin account
8.say thank you and close the case LUL
(link your steam to origin please)
Thats how i got the game.
They will send you an email with a code that you have to write them down to know this is your profile. Then you have to take screenshot from your bought history and your emails from what you get from the steam team when you bought the game. After that you just have to log in an they will activate your game.
