Before logging into BFBC2, log into EA Origin. Then sign into Bad Company 2. It will bring up your soldier but not allow you to fully log in. Now, sign completely out of EA Origin both in internet browser and EA Origin game client while keeping BFBC2 up and running. Sign back into Bad Company 2. The game will now allow you to sign in and play online multiplayer.
If you close out the game and want to come back, try staying logged in EA Origin first and then running BFBC2 and logging into BFBC2 again. This worked for me.
