Also force the game to run under DX9 by changing the DX setting if you haven't already. This is usually the biggest culprit.

Then it's likely a software or app that may be causing it. Are you running anything like MSI afterburner, CPUID, AI Suite or any monitering software? There are some that are incompatibe with Punkbuster.
That seems very odd that it would crash your entire PC. What are your hardware specs? Also, my first thought would be to do a HDD health check.
I always assumed this would be caused by Win10, since its about as compatible as a sack of bricks and a window. That being said, even with my semi-outdated hardware, it still exceeds the reccomended hardware of BFBC2.
Crashes, freezes
Some hardware monitoring programs running in the background may cause crashes, freezes. Some examples which may cause problems on some systems:
