Airborne Bug

So there's a bug in airborne where you have to shoot Kirilenko while falling from the plane, that I've run in to and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to fix it. When I shoot Kirilenko he vanishes and Sweets enters a firing position and drops like a rock. I fall past the chute and fail the mission. I've tried this about 20 times and restarted the entire mission. Nothing seems to work. Has anyone found a fix to this problem? I found a video showing the exact same thing and no one in the comments firgured it out.

The game seems to explicitly expect you to shoot him as soon as you see him at all, while you are still very much above him. You cannot shoot him as you are leveling out, or the sequence is treated as a failure.

Otherwise, something else is at fault here.

I restarted the mission and it worked

Restart the mission from the very beginning (Once you enter the plane and stab the first guy) and it worked fine for me.
