To me, BC2 is just a scaled-down BF2, and Vietnam is surprisingly lacking in content too.
its probably more compareable to the hardline as its also a different battlefield as the standard version
1. The sound design is remarkable, war tapes makes the game feel so immersive for what it is
2. The game still looks great, and the game doesn't feel TOO fast paced, thats one of my bigger complaints with the newer battlefield titles, in my opinion as well it also feels less arcadey in that sense.
3. I feel like bad company 2 was the last battlefield title that had its sorta style of gameplay. Don't get me wrong, the newer battlefield titles are solid but bad company feels different in a better way.
4. True, the story isn't entirely remarkable but then again, have first person shooters really been unique in that regard? The real charm of the singleplayer is the squad, they all have this unique human personality to them other than being a war hardened badass marine.
Its not so much that I am comparing BC2 to BF3 and 4. Ofc I expect that the BF titles following BC2 have "got some stuff better done" since: they do have the benefit of time and hindsight, after all.
Its just that out of all the Battlefield games preceding BF1 (and soon enough, V), it always seems to be BC2 that players (and especially BF youtubers like Westie and LevelCapGaming) are always reminiscing about. And I just don't get it. BC2 pales not only to the titles that succeeded it, but even to those that preceded it . All of the traditional BF titles that came out before BC2 had far more content than BC2 ever did. Whereas BF2 - a game that came out in 2005 - had things like 64 players, jets, and commander mode - BC2 stripped down all of them. And any arguments regarding "casual gameplay" notwithstanding, every BF after BC2 improved in all respects.
Yet, even with all of this in mind, BC2 somehow is "special"? How?
also like the class system far more, medics with LMG so they forced to get ammo from assault and also revive them if they need ammo, tracer pistol for any class to support against vehicles or just piss off aggressive players or retarded team mates
Really? I've played BF3 a long time ago but I don't remember any micro-transactions. Unless if you are talking about Premium, which - however controversial it was/is - is NOT a micro-transaction.
And I'm personally not too fond of BF1 either. However, your comment still lacks to prove to me how Bad Company 2 is special:
It has ranks, progression, and customization, but the BF titles since BC2 improved upon those aspects (well, maybe except for BF1)
BC2 has destruction, nice graphics, and good sound design, but so does the newer BF titles (and in some ways, surpass BC2)
BF2 - a game that came out in 2005, mind you - had 64 players, commander mode, and jets. None of those features are present in BC2
BC2's controls are stiff, singleplayer (IMO) cliche and cheesy. Vietnam has little content
Ultimately, what does BC2 really have to offer? Better class balance? (Arguably) better rush? Maybe, but at the end of the day I still fail to see what exactly BC2 have over the other BF games. To me, its just simply as a console-geared BF title and no more.
If you want to play a WWII Themed BF go get Forgotten Hope 2 for BF2
Ah, a fellow FH2 player, never thought I'd meet one on the steam forums.
this game was so impressive for that time, and its still looks good, i like the graphics more than bf3 or 4 o 5, yeah, they are so realistic but bad company 2 was more friendly with cute colors
bad company 1 was also really good compared to fking cod
Meh, Crysis came years earlier, had vehicles, Nano Suits, 32 player maps....and is famous for his gorgeus look. Even today. (and honestly....12vs12 is almost pathetic for Battlefield Game).
And calling the maps in BC2 "big" is slightly exaggerated...
i usually sip mountain dew while playin
