Serial Key not working

I just bought this game and when I went to the multiplayer tab it asked me to create an EA account and I did. I then copied the key from the overlay and entered it, played some single player and quit the game. Now when I try to play multiplayer, it asks me to login (which I do) and then asks for the code again, but now it says it's 'already in use' and won't take it. Can anyone help?
