Finding it hard to get it going with a measly 2000$? I've come up with a floorplan that's able to withstand vault hits, can secure the family too, and is upgradable to no end... I'm not sure how long it'll stay posted but this link should show it... http://castledraft.com/editor/ceGw5x

Looks fragile but this quickly leads to networks of powered doors, dogs at every end, with the wife eventually moving to the kids, main corridor self locking after entry, and electric floors everywhere, the bottom section getting 8 rooms below, with self locking doors, and in the end the whole place is concreted, and very hard to break...

The wooden wall plan is cheap at around 500$ and most variations on it work remarkably well.
