Impossible end game progress

First of all let me thank you for an amazing game, well done. I did hit a progress wall though. I'm in second legendary difficulty and the Chaos Avatar to the next level is insanely difficult. I know it's endgame and it's suppose to be hard, but I have tried to optimise my build with close to perfect gear, max defence, tried a glass cannon build and a tank build and yet he still one-two shots you, and good luck trying to dodge everything. I have no idea how to progress and I really think his damage should be toned down a little. Same goes for lightning bosses, their damage is also way off compared to the rest. No much else for me to complain about. Thanks again.

Thank you for the response. I don't have a specific build as I try as many different variations as possible. I did beat legendary 3 with a massive dps build, but I was lucky not getting hit once. My only "complain" is I feel defence is pretty useless at the higest difficulties, and I haven't found anything that really works, and I tried most relics, cores etc.

Anyway I will keep experimenting, and I really hope this game will evolve and more content will come out. Thanks again

stacking life with the flesh core + life talent so that you have like max 10k life will help. add in max dodge + barrier and that'll more or less make you immortal. You can also stack mana for a mana defense build. General strong defense tools are: iron warrior + max normal defense / life stacking + block core stuff / mana stacking + recover mana on cd use talent/ dodge + barrier / spamming dodge roll as much as you can for invincibility frames / probably summon stuff though I personally haven't messed with that yet. There's many ways to be tanky past 5 orange skulls.

Perfect, thank your very much for the suggestions, I will try it out. I find it hard to mix the correct dps with defense and the game has so many possibilities ( which is a good thing ), but I'm sure there are many ways to get past the last skulls, so I will keep grinding. Cheers
