If you do the preparation training camps, then maybe you should consider not doing long warm-up races.
Personally i check the Fitness peak level about 30 days before start of grand tours. If it's above 55, at this point (100 - 1.5 *#daystostart) - then I in most cases won't sign the riders up for any warm-up races, (A rider will gain 1.2-1.5 points pr. day). The only exception is if stage 1-5 is somehow very important to the rider :-)
I can only assume Roglic ran other races towards the start of that 8 weeks. No other way to explain an early peak like that.
OR: You have to let your previous peak end, then have a rest week, before that 8 weeks. If you try to schedule multiple peaks less than 8 weeks apart, the peaks after the first one will be all messed up.
For Giro riders I don't schedule any peaks before that. It just causes problems when I do. For the TDF as long as the peak will end and I can schedule and off week for the rider to get his tired status down, and then 8-week run-up with 7-12 race days (12 for sprinters so they peak at start of tour, 6-8 for GC rider so he peaks at end of first week or start of 2nd week), it works fine every time.
Above poster describes the run up very well.
I find that 7-12 race days get me a well timed peak.
Make sure there is a rest week (red bar in rider objectives screen) after any peak, and then make sure the next peak is 8 weeks or more after that rest week.
Good luck
