Some of those reviews are pathetic. They want Burnout handling. :spycon:
Ever thought that maybe this game is just sh|t?

Paying attention to metacritic is worse than paying attention to steam reviews :steammocking:

Paying attention to metacritic is almost as bad as paying attention to steam reviews :steammocking:

If you say so...but be aware, that makes your positive rating of C:R invalid.

As long as we are using the new heightened awareness here in this forum, be aware of this, @Supreme.

You are invalidated based on just one thing:

YOU DON'T OWN THIS GAME.

Just so we are all on the same page, with our newfound heightened awareness.

What a joke, really.I mean WTF.

User score seems to be higher (sitting at 6.9 on Ps4 I believe)

And well, yeah, sure, better take those reviews from reviewers that don't know how to play or couldn't care less thinking that Carmageddon is about racing first as the absolute truth, yeah right.

I own the game on Xbone, and sure, loading times are a problem and graphics aren't up to today's standards, and the price is a bit steep for an indie title (I believe physical editions cost a bit to produce, and Digital editions have to be the same price in order not to cannibalize those sales and result in a loss for Sold Out) but there's people out there, both old fans and newcomers that are having a blast, and I mean it. Posting some impressions from NEOGAF:

Codiox: I'm loving this game but it will bomb hard. Only the old school fans will even notice the game. Really sad.

Heavy_D206: It feels like the old PC days when I would spend hours driving around the levels just causing insane havoc. Some of the powerups are damn hilarious. Making everyone on the street break into dance, or sending them flying into the air with a ridiculously large spring. It's all amazing.

Kabuki Quantum Lover: Long loading times and the graphics seems a little muddy on the PS4, but it's a solid Carmageddon title. It's fun as heck.

Un4:Played a few hours and it is really like the classic Carmageddon games, with some new game modes.

BCole19: I've uploaded some videos of this on Xbox One. This is my first experience with the Carmageddon universe and I'm having a blast so far.

DrFunk: - It's a good Carmageddon game. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

HamsterPackage: Played the tutorial, so far pretty cool.

Brian_FETO: Finally got a chance to sit down and play a bit. So much fun

napalmjam: Been playing all morning really enjoying it =)

Jarrod38: PIcked it up tonight and enjoying it so far.

thelurkinghorror: What a surprise. This game is good, the production values is not but who cares when the fun is so high?

So yeah, I can see that the game is not for everyone, but it can be fun. Reviewers are mostly douches who can bother to write a decent review unless the publisher sucks their ♥♥♥♥♥. I had an outburst against a spanish guy that was doing a streaming calling all sorts of things like he would be ashamed If I had kickstarted the game, that he would stick the game up BADLANDS ass (Badlands is the retailer here in Spain, he got the key from them and thought they were the developers, even after watching a HUGE Stainless game logo once the game boot up) and how dare them send him a copy of such a piece of crap. He was racing like a moron doing nothing, ignoring the pups, ignoring the text on screen telling him how the game works.

This industry has become a mass of ignorance and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiots that could not care less about games. I can accept negative reviews if they show that they have properly reviewed the game, like one that game it a 4/10 but pointed out that neverheless, the game was good fun.

So basically it boils down to: Stainless didn't bribe the reviewers with lots of gifts and goodies to get a good review?

I should have said "...worse than paying attention to steam reviews." Fixed it...

My review is my genuine opinion of a game I've enjoyed playing, the same can't be said of all the reviews on steam.

I've seen games getting negative reviews from people who've played them for hundreds of hours because the price dropped a few weeks after they bought it, and they didn't get refunded the difference, or the devs released a dlc that wasn't free, or made a sequel or whatever...

I've seen Reddit circle jerks where a bunch of people get together purely to upvote negative reviews, and downvote positive reviews. So using steam reviews as the be and all end all is a stupid way of finding out if a game is actually going to be fun... All that, and metacritic is far worse...

Better to take the reviews with a pinch of salt (♥♥♥♥ did I say pinch? I mean truck load), and make your own mind up as to whether you think you'll like something (something todays attention starved generation seems to have trouble with). If you decide you'll probably like it, give it a go. If you think you won't, move on and look at something else.

Some of the worst games I've ever played have had amazing reviews (because the publisher pays the reviewers for a good review, or worse: the reviewer is scared that if they give it a bad review they won't be given any more things to review). And at the same time some of the best I've played have had mediocre reviews. Then there's the few gems that get good reviews and are actually good games...
Funny to make a game for the original Carma PC fans and then neglect them like this by making us wait for a patch...

See this is why im so angry is because this bullcrap just wouldnt fly with any other developer yet people here defend them like their some sort of gaming messiah
Now that "everyone" has been given a "voice", critics have become useless. Many of them sit back while having their own underlying opinion of what a game or movie "should" be- without they themselves knowing anything about the genre or franchise. The same person who gave this game a 3/10 will give any of the last Call of Duty's a 10/10 or the new Ghostbusters movie Glowing Praise and critical acclaim .

This is a smaller team that made a game for a very specific type of fan base- yet people are expecting AAA quality, movie like cinima, forza like handeling in a shorter amount of time for much less money and to a smaller audiance. No other company is taking a risk to make a game like this... so it's either this, or nothing at all. Really those are your only options. But sure... let's lay down the list of reasons why this game is complete and utter garbage. Screw them for even trying- ammiright guys?
In my opinion it's better to do proper Carmageddon game for carmafans, then a game that will appeal to mainstream crowd and disappoint old fan base (like Dead Space 3). So I think Stainless did what they could for us. I just hope Max Damage will be succesful enough to continue development.

I would gladly pay for cars DLC if it were/will be a thing.

Dont give them idea's

paid DLC is horrible.

Some want DLC ... so they will probably make DLC ... this is why it's great to have Max Damage for free ... another studio will try to make us paid for that extra content.

Depends. If it's a couple of cars and a new map for a reasonable price, it isn't horrible. Though the map should be free in multiplayer so that the community wouldn't be divided.

If they're going to do DLC then I also expect general improvements to the game, like AI and multiplayer features (I've made a thread about that).
