They do have great programmers & awesome writers, and artists, lots of potential there.
CrystalDynamics/SquareEnix I love, ohhh I can't think of the others, oh well, good topic point anyways...
I don't think Risen 3 sold significantly worse than the first two games. The vast majority of Risen and Risen 2 sales stems from cheap bundles and the fact that both games have already been on sale for less than 10 bucks. Heck, the first game costs 10$ regularly. Risen 3 has never been lower than 25$ (at least as far as I know).
I have to say that Risen was the best because its absolutely full of the spirit of Gothic and Gothic 2.
Risen 2 is like a completely different game and Risen 3 (only played few hours at my friends house) seems like a sequel to Risen 2, not a next instalment in the Risen series.
I just don't undesrtand why PB won't do the smartest and safest thing to do to earn loads of money, release remastered (HD, patched, updated with quests and chars that didnt make it) of Gothic 1, Gothic 2 + Raven's Night. I would pay 500$ right now if I could get my hands on that tomorrow...are the so blind? bored with their games ?
Its the worest part of Risen ever! Shame on u Piranha Bytes!
First few hours of Risen 3 is rather misleading, it feels allot more like risen 1 than risen 2, especially if you explore the different factions and such. But it does contain quite a few aspects from risen 2 as well.
Personally I'm not a huge fan of the risen series at all. They went from making rpg's set in a virtual world(Gothic you can play lutes, clean the floor with a broom, smoke swampweed, even take a bath! It feelt like you were actually in a virtual world, rather than just a game), to an rpg set in a game(none of said above things are possible in Risen 1, only thing you can do there is sit in chairs and cook food, risen 2 you can't even sit in chairs(3 reintroduce this)).
and upgrade to steamworks too...
I also own risen and risen 2 but i never played them and not going too. I remember gothic 3, what a mess it was. Since then devs didn't learn anything.
Still meagre for a game that has its moments (especially world design is top-notch!).

The Steamspy numbers are reliable, Risen 3 sold at max 100k on Steam. Maybe a few extra k on other sites, but that's it guys, not more.
You*re not counting in retail though. I know the retail market's share is almost non-existant anymore but the Risen franchise has a pretty backwards fellowship that prefers their games to come on discs. As I said, I would guess around 100k copies sold as retail.
