Is this a pirate game?

I really REALLY liked Risen 2 because of its awesome pirate world complete with drinking games, ghostships, and skeleton pirates! I noticed the store page says that the game has magic? How does that work with pirates maybe voodoo? Is this a pirate game or is it like Risen one and just another knight and wizard game which I wouldnt like. If anyone has any info, please share it, thanks.
(I'm afraid if its not a pirate game, it might be like a poor mans skyrim. I like pirates!)

they left the pirate setting behind and got back to "medieval" style. even the hero you'll play is a different one.

I understand *why* the went all pirates in the last game cause PotC was all the rage back then, but they tried to put a Gothic game into a pirate wrapper and the combat was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrendous- they didnt revamp it enough

I do like medieval game, but there are a million of those. Sadly Risen 2 is the only open world kinda pirate game I can think of. AC4 doesnt count because the guy isnt a pirate hes just an assassin on a boat.
