Need items to cast voodoo magic? This is absurd!

So I just went voodoo after several hours of running boring/racists quests, to only find out that I need jade just to CAST a spell on top of other items..wtf?! For 1 jade it costs 200g each which is EXTORTION when I NEED it to cast spells. Is there not a magic class that doesn't need absurd amount of money/grinding for hours upon hours just to cast a few spells?

The jade cost is for making dolls (or scrolls or whatever) and learning spells, as far as I know. Do you really need to have jade to cast them? Try casting without jade and let us know.

You shouldn't need anything to cast the spell, the reagents listed on each spell are for making your own copies of the spell (in case you are in a different faction). You need Jade to trade to learn new spells though.

Oh ok, sorry for the misunderstanding. Then what's a good way to farm gold for jade so I can buy new spells? 16 jade seems steep to learn a spell.

I would suggest getting prospecting from Tanaris gnome on top left cave before ya mine jade to get more out of it, Also astral vision helped me find Jades. You can also buy some from vendors.

The high amount of jade required is well worth it as spells you learn are unlimited, as opposed to wasting jade on the voodoo dolls.

Someone else confusing the bottom screen for spells costing actual items to cast. If that were true I'd have only been able to cast Fire Hail (or whatever it's called) once. Rubies are hard to find.

Huh. I also thought the items listed below the spell were what you needed to cast. After jumping through hoops to get the Rust spell, and learning that I need to pump a skill anyway, the iron ore + crystal price per cast on top of that seemed like a sick joke. Glad to see I was mistaken. Just another item to add to the great big pile of things I wished a FAQ existed for.

No the items listed below are what you need to make a scroll of that spell. I can see how that can be confusing to someone.

Scrolls have the advantage by not affecting cooldown or being affected by cooldowns

Also...if you pursue the crew quest for Horas....and give him rock crystals he will reward you with jade (or whatever resource you need presumably depending on faction, haven't tested this though)
