I do not see how the bonesaw does not give you the skills without having them. I clearly am able to loot claws and horns off monsters that have them without the skills because I have the bonesaw. I'm not sure we are playing the same game cause clearly it is giving me the ability to do claw and horns without the skill.

Then mistery solved! That's what the Bone Saw does. Pretty pointless really, because there's just so much gold to be found but I guess it can help a bit in the really early game, especially on hard difficulty. If it'd give you double the materials from a monster, then that would make it an awesome item.

Yeah you end up with so much gold in this game you could kill monsters by burying them in it.

I'm confirming this.

Fog Island, soul eater Rakazor (Venturo's quest).
1. You don't go for Bone Saw item, kill him, and you'll loot only a bone.
2. You get Bone Saw, kill him, you'll loot a bone AND a horn!

So Bone Saw *does* work as stated in it's description. It just doesn't show in character stats which can be misleading and a player would waste 1500 gold on training corresponding skills to gain practically nothing.

Well Fog Island is DLC anyway. So not everyone can get the saw early. And they'd have to know to look for it there.

I got my first saw from Tenya's quest reward box (after turning in lots of quartz). I got a second one from Chani's house past the wall. So that's pretty late in game for both of them, with lots of animals I could have harvested from killed in the meantime. So the cost was worth it to me. 1500 feels like alot in the early game but isn't a big deal in the long term.

And I made most of my money from selling jewelry I make with things I get from gathering skills.

Not to mention that just like Risen 2 had, there's an infinite gold glitch in the game. It's quite easy but I won't get into specifics unless anyone is curious.

Cutlass, that's true, but anyone who'd replay the game (I'm replaying it, was mage, now I want to go DH) would want to get some stuff as early as possible. ;)
I mean, if you don't know what legendary item is on Fog Island, you won't go there first just like I didn't in my first game (I went searching for tits... um... Patty ;)).

Turbo,
There are three money exploits in the game in fact. Reported all of them (and other bugs) on DS forum:

Yep, will surely get patched, just like with the exploit in Risen 2. Have to admit I used the 2nd exploit myself a bit and together with how easy the game became as a Guardian, it just ruined the game for me. Planning on restarting on Hard difficulty as a Demon Hunter and sticking to melee.

Okay sorry to bump this again but just to be clear, sounds like we've confirmed now that Bonesaw makes it so you can get claws and horns WITHOUT having to train the skills first, BUT if you have trained the skills, it gives no benefits. Correct?

Have has anyone found any other items that do this, like jaw chisel and whatnot, and can maybe report how to get them early on?
