I swear this game is locked at 30 fps.
Why have risen 2 and 3 ran so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ on my computer? I put everything on low and the framerate stays the same. (27-33) I put everything on high and the game takes no performance hit. I've tried messing with resolutions, vsync, etc and the framerate is the same. Help?

This game has a strange frame pacing system. It kind of picks a zone of fps and soft-locks your framerate into that zone. Search my topic called 50fps cap
I'm getting pretty much a solid 55-60, maybe try updating your video drivers? Also post your specs and someone can help you out. :D

There is some framerate lock stuff in the configdefault file I believe. Basically I went into the file (configDefault.xml - load it in notepad) and changed the line FPSLimitToRefreshRate= "True" to ="Flase." This dramatically improved my performance and I went from running it with low settings with tons of stuttering and screen tearing to high settings running perfect. This config file can be found in steamlibrary ->steamapps -> common -> Risen 3 -> data -> ini. Also there is quite a bit of discussion in a thread titled micro stuttering. Seemed to be helping alot of people (aside from the classic arguing and name calling). This is where I found my solution. Hope something helps.

Hey I'm using

Gpu: Nvidia gtx 650 ti
cpu: amd fx8350
ram: 8gb
I can confirm that the info given by danabc, two posts up is correct, re. configDefault.xml file. By following his instructions, my frame rate went from 35fps to 80fps.

System:

Core i7 clocked at 4.4Ghz
Nvidia 680 4GB version
16GB RAM
Win 8.1

@Dragon - Awesome glad it worked, loved Risen 3 but it was unplayable before this. Glad you dont have to miss out on the game due to tech problems.
Thanks for the advice. I nearly played 20h with 30 FPS lock and now I'm running it with >60fps
Does this still need to be done?
