Risen 3 - Titan Lords
Micro Stuttering
I have a GTX780TI
i7-4770K@3.50 GHz
16GB Ram

More than enough to run this game fluently, but I have extreme Micro Stuttering all the time.
FRAPS shows FPS between 40 and 50 and they do not increase, even if I put everything on low. Micro Stuttering doesn't disappear either with everything on low.

what could be the cause?

I'm having the same issue, also on an NVidia.

This is really frustrating.
have the same with GTX690, game looks like ♥♥♥♥ developed in 2005 remastered on the PS2 and ported back to PC

I think I found a solution by messing around in the ini a bit
goto: Steam\SteamApps\common\Risen 3\data\ini
open ConfigDefault.xml
change FPSLimitToRefreshRate="true" to FPSLimitToRefreshRate="false"

please report if it helped you

even with this fix my GTX690 runs at full FAN mode to manage ~62 fps hahahahaha
This appears to have helped but has still not alleviated the issue entirely.

get used to it, micro stutter is in every risen game and all the gothic games too :P
I am having the same issue on my 3-day-old gaming laptop with a GeForce GT 750M. I was actually just about to call the manufacturer and complain that my new "high performance gaming laptop" was getting micro stuttering in the first game I tried on it that wasn't a low-end 2D indie title, but now seeing this I may hold off...

I tried the game on my 7-year-old desktop PC and it didn't have a problem though, but it also has an NVidia card, that's why I assumed the problem was my new gaming laptop.

It runs even worse with that. It also seems to gain absolutely no/minimal fps from the SLI mode.

I switched ADAPTIV VSync on, runs a bit better now but still edgy/stuttery

Try frame 1.
got a 680 and got the feel that will run like crap need a patch or something
Try Game->Options->Sync - On
This fix the issue for me
None of the suggestions thus far have worked for me.

What's weird is the consistency of the stutter - it doesn't feel like a normal performance issue, where it would slow down sometimes and other times not depending on what was happening. It seems about once a second I have a frame freeze for a few extra frames, like clockwork. Nothing I change seems to affect it, including running everything at low, vsync on or off, limitFPS setting in the .xml file true or false, or even running the game at really low resolution like 800x600.

Yet it plays just fine on my outdated computer and Risen 2 ran just fine on this one when I checked it just now. Really weird.
Guys this is a 32bit binary based game, will only use 4GB combined RAM, that includes GDDR. Say you have a GPU with 2GB GDDR5 and 16GB (silly amount of ram if you have a PC just for games since not many games are 64bit), then it will use the 2GB GDDR5 and only 2GB RAM.

But I somehow managed to get the game earlier than Friday being in the UK, and I can play fine on 1080p with everything maxed and no stuttering, that could be due to your HDD being fragmented badly and is constantly seeking data on different sectors of the platter. Defrag your HDD and try again.
If it makes you feel any better, Taron, I'm having the exact same issue as you, as well as my roommate who also just purchased the game. We're both on NVidia too.
