It is entirely unrealistic to expect a small game developer studio to maintain a released product for a long or very long time or to develop it further after release. The software development life cycle of this game has ended many years ago, which is normal procedure.
Risen 3 has received multiple patches with release notes. Find some of the announcements still in the News section.
what? why does this console port game not have real xinput support?
day one patches fix the basics, thats what i was referring to. I know this game has recieved many patches but none of them did anything
You drop your torch so you can have free hand during combat. After the fight you grab that torch off the ground and it still works as before. Simple, logical, immersive.
Also a PSA: please do not use words "Gothic" and "Arcania" next to each other. Thank you for your cooperation.
Literally plugged my pad to check. Deadzones are clearly in place as is distinction between walking and running depending on how far you push your left stick. Only thing missing is graduality in camera speed.
Most of the time you can prevent this by not being a lazybone and centering a camera on the object you want to interact with. Not always but usually.
actually i spent 110 hours in arcania recently (and keep in mind this is 10 years of never trying it because, like you, i understood it to be a bad game despite never experiencing it for myself). I even gave it a bad review on only 38 minutes played. That negative review sat for years and years..
Heres the kicker.. arcania GOTHIC 4 is actually a really good game (the legacy version is the only version that runs smooth because the 2015 update broke the default versions frame pacing)
not only is arcania a worthy successor to the gothic series. But its actually lightyears better than gothic 3. And it's absolutely steeped in all aspects of the gothic universe. It IS gothic 4. At the very minimum its 1000x better than gothic3
So anybody who disses it (i was one of those people) is actually confirming that they are a herdmind sheep that only likes things another person gives you the green light to. And i am guilty of that myself
The first like 4 hours of the game trick you into believing you are about to experience a shallow title.. but the reality couldnt be any further from that
Im not even trying to fight with you either, you should really try arcania legacy. It's better than we as a gaming community first thought
Yeah, that's what happens when you hit any water surface. Honestly, it's a load of bull and I hate it but it's completely preventable.
Let me toot my own horn here. I am the fix's author. When you go down to PCGW sources it links to a discussion in which it was me that gives the instruction.
"GIT GUD is not some dismissive meme. Quite the contrary. It speaks to a truth at the heart of our entire lives. It is in fact the best advice anyone could ever give you." - someone very smart, 2021
It's literally 15 gold coins a pop. If you really can't be bothered to just pick it from the ground just stock up.
I'm not dissing a game, if you liked it it's absolutely fine. I'm dissing it's place in Gothic universe. Arcania, its addon and G3 Forsaken Gods have been officially removed from canon. And for a good reason ("Adanos was a woman!", troglodytes, Thorus the Summoner of Antagonists). The only reason I'm not giving Arcania a shot is because my gaming pile of shame is so big I don't want to pay money for a game that is easier than Fable, more linear than some literal books and has fewer role-playing elements than Skyrim.
There's enough glory to gain to end up with perfect stats and 100k spare glory. If you really are a competionist you don't need any extras.
i've been gaming long enough to know when something is not right. Risen3 is just a means to make money
I just recently beat two worlds 2, then two worlds 1, then arcania gothic 4, then gothic2 chronicles of mytholos
This game has literally none of the features all those other games has. This game just does its own thing with complete disregard for gameplay and other quality of life features i've come to expect from RPG games
so not only is this the worst rpg i've ever seen in 32yrs of being alive. But its risen2.. Its literally risen 2 being repackaged and sold again
*update* holy smokes.. they even re-use the same quests, the chef in the kitchen, getting permission papers from the captain.. Thats unreal.
You consider yourself an expert in ludology? I finished all Gothics, Risens, Elex 1, Two Worlds II, Divinity II, Dark Souls 1 and 2, Witcher 1 and 2 and Bound by Flame and that's just TPP aRPGs. And yet I don't feel entitled to consider my likes and dislikes universal. Because I'm ADULT. I actually quite disliked Witcher 2 but you don't see me creating outlandish threads about me calling the game worse than actual Ho*****st.
And how exactly is Risen 3 more suitable to such mud-dragging than any of the games mentioned above? I know you've played most of 'em. Have you changed your medication since then? And who's more statistically probable to be wrong: single yourself or 73% of players?
You know why I wrote all of this? Because I believe in freedom of speech but also in consequences of your words. I believe in a world where anyone can speak their mind and anyone else can call them out on their BS. That's the only way for people not to group up in a bunch of fanatical information bubbles. So if anyone comes across this thread I want to make sure they will see how valuable your revelations are.
