Huh, I actually thought it was the same protagonist.
Technically it is accurate, but the point where you steal a ship (last sentence of summary) is the quest you get right after choosing a faction (inquisition or natives). After you steal the ship you can choose which islands to visit (previously you were at the mercy of the plot).
The over all quest is to find the other three Titan artifacts though, but that takes another two thirds or so of the game. After that you go and kill Mara.
You were not the only one who liked Risen 2. I personally think its the best of the series, because the dialogue and voice acting are the best of the bunch. Lots of people disagree.
