Have devs addressed horrible matchmaking

Enjoying this game, but curious if the devs have talked about the horrid matchmaking and potential fixes for it?
I played some today and 6/7 players I played were 5+ ranks above me, I'm floating between BIV and BV and seem to only get A rank players most of the time
Only 1! person was not multiple ranks above me and they were multiple ranks below me :(

Phase 1 is getting reworked such that every character has its own rank, we don’t know what other changes are coming
