At A-1 I was getting people in SS rank and also getting people as low as C-1
Now I understand, the game doesn't have a massive player base, which is gradually dwindling on a day to day basis but a rank mode with no real restrictions is a waste of time
So no, I don't enjoy flip flopping between a super hard opponent and a relatively easy one. One of the main reasons I just stopped playing.
Plus all characters being tied to the same rank is ridiculous
Honestly, the worst rank mode I've seen so far in a fighting game
I've encountered all kinds of players during my playtime, some with 1000+ points that I could still win sets against even though I'm currently in the 300 range, and some others with lower ranks that utterly destroyed me.
I've yet to find a game without a massive player base that can provide a somewhat accurate ranking system. I would say that this one is still reflective of one's ability at climbing the ladder but I agree that it favors maybe a little too much finding matches fast over looking for an opponent in the same bracket.
