Why cancelling pre-orders makes sense.

I'm sure there are people posting about cancelling pre-orders who never pre-ordered the game. Those people are just lying. However, there are people who did pre-order who have actually cancelled their pre-orders, as well as people who were considering buying who won't.

This isn't about one joke character, this is about the fact that SNK programmers and game designers are no longer making decisions. Even the executives at SNK aren't making these decisions. A billionaire who knows nothing about game design is using SNK as his own personal plaything.

If City of the Wolves does well, that sends the message that fighting game customers don't really care if billionaires buy out fighting game companies and proceed to use them to satisfy their personal whims, making very poor decisions that hurt the games.

Do you want to see corporate mascots in fighting games, instead of main roster characters? If you do, buy City of the Wolves, otherwise don't buy it, and play something else.

Wierd that a niche discord based SNK community is going for an ''grand boycott'' against MSB, while Tekken 8, MK and SF6 are doing full Micro-X mechnics. A lot of these posts and talking about aren't surely SNK fans.

Also Salvador is free content while Tekken 8 had paid Nike Ads.

Ever tried Pocket Bravery? It is a cute little one. Not a masterpiece by a long shot. But somewhat enjoyable with a strong old SNK vibe.

For me the me the most important thing is ‘is the game fun’

I really enjoyed the second beta. I think it’s a well designed fighting game with a lot of depth and feels honest and fair

A couple dumb comic relief guest characters aren’t going to spoil that for me. I probably won’t play them but I’m not going to not play the game for that reason

Nor do I care about who owns the company. Those offended by that sort of thing might want to have a deep reflection on products they’ve bought over the years from big companies that have done terrible things

What would make me quit a game, would be the gameplay. A Tekken 8 season 2 fiasco is a perfect example. As long as fatal fury is fun to play, I’m not gonna to let a couple celebrities ruin that for me. So I’ll be buying the game at launch

The ‘I cancelled my preorder’ attention seeking bunch linger on this board for a good reason because deep down, they want to play the game, that’s why they’re still here

The market for nu-SNK is South America and Arabia, not the West. The game may not move a single unit in the West, and still be successful by House of Saud metrics.

I cancelled my pre order during the first beta.
Second Beta couldn't fix the reason of why I cancelled it
And these 2 jokes of guest characters just validated the refund even more

SNK now is not what I grew up with. I grew up with SNK Playmore, they didn't make much games and focused more on pachislots but SNK Playmore was 10 times better then what SNK is now. At lease we knew pachislots were keeping the company alive but we got KOF XIII from them, and they tried to make new IP's. You can blame the Japanese government for thinking about legalising gambling in 2014 (Which they never did)

I grew up with Pre-MVS/Pre-NeoGeo SNK.

I feel... ancient. Like a fossil.

I was playing stuff such as Ikari back when many people on these boards were not even born yet.

SNK is chameleonic. I think the company needed to be, in order to survive since the 70s to this day in some form. The gaming world and its trends drastically changed. So did the company. Shooters, then action, then military games, then gun games, then back to action, then fighting games, portable gaming, pachinkos, and now an attempted revival.

I’m going to cancel mine eventually. SNK snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

It was like… FINALLY! A GOOD fighting game that doesn’t cater to dumbasses and it looks great. I guess I was wrong. Adding a real life DJ to the game was probably the stupidest thing they could have done given the current climate.

We can’t have nice things in this world.

In the case of Ronaldo, I am willing to bet that the gameplay is enjoyable. They would not secure a deal with him, promote it like they are doing, without making sure that he is fun to play. His inclusion will certainly raise eyebrows, but I do believe that he will be enjoyable to control. He has to be. Otherwise it would be a major shot in the foot of SNK.

But that DJ guy? Some of his moves reminded me of that weird shadaloo person from SF5. Some, appeared to be reminiscent of Hyena from the Kof Maximum Impact series (remember?).

Ive tried to like it. I always try to approach new things with an open mind. But it has proven difficult on his case.

I can be and truly hope to be mistaken, but the dj seemed like a huge disappointment.

Ive actually left a note to myself, to be read in 2 years, May of 2027: See if my opinion regarding the DJ guest character changed. I was worried and disappointed, regarding it as a major letdown. Did any of my perceptions change?
