Since the open beta is live, I'm making this topic for participants to offer feedback on the netcode quality, matchmaking, character balance and anything else relevant.

its a typical SNK release, game will be dead in a week. SNK were only good in the 90s
The worst net code so far. Rollback and delay like hell on 80 ping. On 150+ the game is unplayable. Connection on 80ping os worst then in SF6 on 250 ping. Match making? Is completely broken. I play 3 games with 1 hour of searching. Is this a joke or something!

The game itself is garbage sf6 ripoff and nothing like Garou or old Fatal Fury.

Good buy SNK. I will miss you.

I'm curious, does this game feel a lot like kofxv? Does it have the same kind of super tight input windows and require a lot of buffering?

I come from the future. My fight stick magically worked when I used it to "Press Any Button" on the first start screen. Give that a try! Hopefully you've also had better luck getting your pad running in the beta!
The game lost all of the crisp tight responsiveness that was THE reason to play SNK/ the original Garou and was its defining feature. It genuinely now plays like a street fighter game but with KOF15 style combos due to the clunkiness and high amount of recovery on even basic movement options.

Long drawn out combos for no reason that get tiring after 5 minutes, run canceling feels horrible compared to garou 1.

Matchmaking is broken. Waited 1 hour and no match. The netcode itself is good but it doesn’t matter if you can’t get a match.

The graphics overall hit the mark though I’ll give it that. Overall it’s a good looking game. Except terry’s stage is one of the most ridiculously poor display of modern graphics I’ve ever seen. The water in the background in the second area looks so bad it’s neat unbelievable

So far I'm not really into it. I still prefer SF6 and KOF15. They introduced a lot of complex defensive mechanics, but I wish they would have focused more on the more fundamental things like normal and special recovery speed. In my opinion it's too slow for a game that only has 4 buttons. It works in SF6 because it has 6 buttons, so you can control the neutral better with stuff like down crouch medium+fireball. Or pressing normals from a safe distance to poke around. This game doesn't have those kinds of normals, so you have to either spam fireball or get up close to open up your opponent and it starts to get pretty scrambly. Feels a bit stiff to control as well. I think the SNK team tried to make it like SF6 but still maintain a Fatal Fury identity, but couldn't get it right. If you played the past Fatal Fury games, they control a lot smoother, both in movement and execution. This game is a pretty stiff in general.

For 40 minutes I couldn't find a single person to play.
Great game. Make spacebar usable as jump in keyboard settings. Also matchmaking like everyone already talks about.
Das Spiel ist eigentlich super. Bin nur überrascht von dem langsamen Gameplay. In Samsho oder Kof ist das Gameplay doch auch Super. Ich frage mich was die dev dabei gedacht haben. Warum der Backdash und frontdash nich wirklich existiert ist mir ein Rätsel. Bitte implementieren.
So, general consensus so far is that matchmaking needs some work, net code is quite serviceable and pretty much everyone hates the UI. Good to know.
I'll be honest, switching between which character you want to use is wayyyy harder than it should be.
They should create a macro for feint, UI is slow and mediocre, some characters benefit too much from REV or/and do too much damage (looking at you, Vox). Matchmaking is ass, netcode is fine above 3+ bars.

They need to improve the matchmaking (I don't count on it) and do small balance changes, that's all I need to be honest. It's their best interest that the game doesn't follow KOFXV to the grave. They should've learned from their mistake, but oh well.

I actually love the game for what it is, I'd be very disappointed and sad to see it fail and become a discord fighter.

I am actually enjoying the game a lot I just think the netcode needs to be better. Even good connections have a lot of rollback frames and it can make punishing whiff or spacing basically RNG. Also the throw tech window seems way too big.
I've played the "Fatal Fury City of The Wolves" beta on PS5 / PS4 and Steam. I played on a fiber wired connnection. With a Quanba Obsidean 2 PS5 fightstick.

The input latency on PS5 is absolutely unacceptable! Making the game feel heavy and sluggish. Moves that should be coming out are not coming out at all. The game sometimes holds inputs too long making random moves fly out. Really frustrating!!! This delay turns many fights into boring slap fights. Especially, against lower skilled oppposition, because they mostly refuse to engage. Insisting on running, playing hopscotch. While leaving a large gap of space between you and spamming. You have to chase them all over the stage to play smh. It's annoying to catch them and then the moves don't come out.

I switched to PS4 version on my PS5. The delay was somewhat better. However, it looks worse and has screen tearing. The train stage is low framerate and looks awful in motion. On both versions to be honest. I'm not paying $60 to play a PS4 version on a PS5.

Steam version was fine. Except it crashed and black screened A LOT! I got tired of dealing with it in room lobbies and went back to Playstation. To play with friends.

The netcode is mostly alright. Not being able to find matches, uninspired UI and severe delay ruins this game. It isnt responsive enough in the online enviroment. SNK made a mostly fun game that has jank all around it. I thought this beta would lock in my pre-order. But this game may die quickly because its the same problems as KoF 13, KoF 14, KoF 15. The game needs to work seemlessly online and not loaded with delay in a game that needs to be responsive.

SNK needs to do better before they blo it again.
