Can't drop out with player using keyboard
When starting up the game, player 1 is set up to use the keyboard and player 2 is bound to the gamepad. I can drop out with player 2, but not with player 1, so I'm stuck using the keyboard. How can I change the control device for player 1?

Restart the game and just use the gamepad (don't touch the keyboard at all). It should assign the gamepad to player 1.

That's what I did. Player 1 is set to gamepad, but only Player 1 can drop out.

On unrelated not, every time I checked if controls were fixed, I had to wait for the entire intro to finish. Can't I skip cutscenes somehow?

I'm not sure what your problem is then if player 1 is set to use gamepad. I thought that's what you wanted.

No, it isn't. Player 2 is just thrown in using the keyboard and can't drop out. That way I still have to keep the keyboard player in.

Is player two greyed out, and it's telling you to press F2 (I think the key is) to join?

I'll endure the intro again to check. I remember it saying "no input" at the top right of my screen and that I did not need to press F2 or anything for P2 to be joined.

I'm having the same issue. I'm trying to play solo with my controller but I'm player 2 and can't get the keyboard to drop out.

use the enter at the COMPLETE right side of the keyboard.

The only thing that's worked for me is once the game has finally started, go ahead and unplug the controller and plug it back in. for me, this automatically shuts off the keyboard player and lets my controller work with just 2nd player vs controlling both characters with one gamepad.

I'm on a laptop and don't have said enter key. Is there any other way to drop the keyboard player out?

Alternitaveley you could go into controller options with the keyboard and select "Change device" in theory, this shoul allow you to set your game pad to player one and the keyboard to player two. But I don't have a gamepad so I can't be sure, when I have one I will try it and check back in with results.

I'm having the same problem, but i'm 90% sure that they keyboard isn't actually the issue (or at least it isn't on my machine).

When I start the game on my Win & desktop it's using my controller fine; it sets the controller as player 1 and I can control one character, and the second character is grayed out and says hit F2 to drop in. But when I hit a button on my controller (A,B,X,Y) it activates the second character as well -- I can't control the other character, but it acts like a person should be playing them instead of the AI.
The reason I'm pretty sure it's not the keyboard is that player 2's controls aren't actually set to the keyboard -- if I open the controls area it shows player 1 being mapped to the controller and player 2 says "no input" for all the controls. I'd expect that if the game thought the keyboard was involved it would show at least one of the players mapped to the keyboard.
(for the record I did trying hitting "enter" on the far right and it did nothing)

I think the real problem might be with Win 7 -- I installed the game on my Win 8.1 work laptop and it worked perfectly with the controller -- so we might need a developer update to get this fixed. I've played Lego: LOTR and Clone Wars on my Win 7 machine with a controller and never had a problem until this game -- hope it gets fixed soon.

I actually experience this issue on Win 7. Also never had a problem like this with previous LEGO games.

It's happening on 8.1 too. Trying to play solo (with gamepad). Player 2 immediately latches on to same gamepad. Assigned Player two to keyboard, then "drop out" Player two - Player two latches straight back on to Player one's gamepad.
This is really pissing me off, coz I feel like a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for wasting almost US$30 (base+DLC) on a game I can't even get to play properly.
Never has an issue with any of the previous LEGO games. Never had an issue like this before, period. :sadpanda:
