Download and install saved games to unlock characters - for those with young kids..
Just a minor note as this may be of use to some playing this game who have young kids and not time themselves to help them unlock everything should they get stuck. For most this method won't be news, it may help some though... it may at least save several hours looking through walkthroughs on YouTube.

In my case my son will most likely complete the story mode on his own but I think that getting > 100 gold bricks or unlocking Dead Pool will be a challenge so this helps him a little.

1. There are example save games here http://www.savemygame.fr/en/pc/l/pc-lego-marvel-super-heroes-save-game.html which you can download and install into any of the four slots available in the game, that is if you have available slots.

2. In the game you can keep your current save, say for example in slot #1 intact and continue playing through as normal.

3. If you want to try taking a look through one of the available games saves then start a new game using any of the available slots, e.g. #2 - #4, let the intro cut scene roll and wait until you get to the point where the story mode starts with Hulk and Iron Man at Grand Central Station and then at that point save and exit the game and quit to Windows.

4. The previous step will create a folder inside the game saves directory, you need to do it this way as I noticed that creating folders manually didn't appear to work.

5. Once you have a slot folder created take a copy of one of the game saves you downloaded and browse to the path below and in the saved games folder overwrite the file in the relevant slot folder with the downloaded version.

C:\Program Files\Steam\userdata\111631859\249130\remote

Use path below if you're running Windows 64-bit version
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\111631859\249130\remote

Note: be careful not to replace the file in any slot which includes your own actual game saves, e.g. if you've been playing through slot #1 and got 10 or 20% in already all your work will be undone :)

6. Once you're done then start the game and the newly created slot should have the progress from the save game you downloaded in place.

I should note that I prefer to actually play through the game to figure stuff out, this is just a little bit of help for those cases where someone just wants to play around in free play mode for a few hours, I know at least my son was pleased with all the new characters and of course thanks to those who shared their saved games :)

Also note that using one of the saved games unlocks access to the Circus in the park but this level includes a bug where if you don't set all the graphical effects options to the maximum (anti-aliasing, bloom, depth of field etc) then you may not be able to see anything on the screen, or at least that's how it was on our copy with an NVidia mobile GPU
