Trying to play single-player with controller, but 2nd player drops in?
So I've been trying to play single player with my PS4 controller, however when I play it seems that when I press Square, Triangle, or what ever, that second player gets enabled... When I go and check my settings (which never seems to save the subtitles...), it then says for Player 2: No input...

It's driving me insane, the game runs fine, but this issue... I can't seem to get rid of second player, and I have no idea what is making second player get enabled.

Screenshot of my issue... I got freaking 1 hour of play, just trying to fix this damn issue. I am unable to progress because of it!

i had a similar issue...i think it was because at the main menu i used the keyboard to start the game...then it made my gamepad default to player 2. does this happen every time for you? maybe restart the game, dont touch keyboard at all. if that doesnt work, sorry! D:

As soon as a controller is plugged in alongside the mouse and keyboard the game thinks another player is joining. The game should still operate as normal, though it will always display the second player option up in the right corner of the game HUD. I was going to try disconnecting my mouse and keyboard to see what happens.

This seems to be a issue, I emailed wbgames about it 2 days ago and they haven't replied yet, i had to struggle through the first level so it saved.

I am having pretty much the same issue. I am using a wired Xbox PS3 controller, and the game seems to be stuck in permanent co-op mode. And no, I have not even touched my keyboard/mouse at any point, nor does my keyboard/mouse respond during gameplay when I try to use either. I seem to have a 2nd device activated somehow, but I can't figure out what it is, it simply lists "No Input" under the player 2 controller options.

So frustrating.

Indeed. It's exhausting to switch to keyboard and mouse whenever i need to use the second character...

I started the menu with my controller... It even shows the controller icons when I go through the menu. I have restarted this game over and over... And yet the game wants to treat the controller as both player 1 and player 2.

So after spending all day downloading different apps and trying different fixes to try and solve the problem, I finally found a solution for myself. I don't know if it will help anyone else, the fix is supposedly for Xbox 360 controllers (I am using a wired PS3 controller myself and it still worked), but I figured I'd share the process for anyone else interested.

Download the XBCD installer contained within one of the two links at the top, and follow the directions to install on your PC. Then search for the latest version of x360ce on Google, download it, unzip and add all files to the main game directory. Click on the x360ce executable within the game directory to create an ini and configure your controller settings, and then run the game.

I was using just x360ce without XBCD before and was having my issues. Somehow, adding XBCD into the mix fixed all of my problems. Just put all files for both programs in the main game directory, run x360CE, save/close, and run the game. Hopefully it works for anyone suffering from this little annoyance.

Tried this with my PS4 controller (which is xinput), and it doesn't seem to work. D:

Same here, I can get as far as the area where Hulk and Iron Man are, but when the game starts Player 2 magically enters the game. I'm also using a PS4 controller.

I'm using a controller and x360ce and whenever I push a button on the controller it enables player 2 and his all of his controls as "no input" I mange to set its controls to keyboard and drop it out of the game. But as soon as I press a button on the controller, it enables player 2 again. I have yet to progress at all in game due to this annoyance.

XBCD is in fact x360ce, i don't see how it could fix it. I'll give it a try.

Update: OMG it worked, i'll check it later why but x360ce files from XBCD worked. No more 2nd player issue :D (perhaps its the driver that installed)

BTW: Im using a generic USB gamepad :D

Update 2: Still working fine but ... if I happen to join the game with the keyboard (player 2) how can the 2nd player exit the game without going to title screen?

I don't have any issue with my wireless xbox 360 controller. I was playing this game last night with the controller, launched the game directly from "Big Picture" mode as the game is on my dedicated steam tv rig. Windows 7, running Media Center for the most part, until i want to get my game on! I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse (710 i think) and the wireless xbox receiver. I don't have XBCD installed, just plain default windows.

It flashes "Press Start" for player two in the top right hand corner of the screen. I will test with a 2 player game tonight, on both 2nd xbox controller and a keyboard/mouse setup. Fun as hell game though :)
