Lego Marvel Avengers fewer characters?

So I was browsing the list of characters for Lego Marvel Avengers and I'm a bit disappointed that all the X-men characters are missing. That means no Prof X, Phoenix, Dark Phoenix, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Iceman, Pyro, Storm, Cyclops, Magneto, Mystique etc.

This is extremely disappointing. I know this game is Avengers but they could've easily made this include those chars as well.

Just sucks but at least the game is gonna follow LMSH. Hopefully the changes are good and the game is as awesome as LMSH which was the best Lego game I've ever played.

Lego Marvel Avengers has 196 characters tokens you can collect, not include the characters in the story.
Season pass has more than 40 characters, civil war dlc have 9, ant-man 11, plus other dlcs like Avengers Explorer Character Pack and Thunderbolts Character DLC Pack etc

I think that total characters will more than 270

I can tell that this sounds pretty close to right-- here is a question I have:

I bought the base game and the Season Pass on DLC so far. I didn't pre-order it though. I hope that missing the pre-order does not screw me out of some characters. Here is what I have access to so far:

The 196 original characters (I don't have them all yet because I'm still playing the game, but I know I have access :) )

I have the Captain Marvel and the Masters of Evil missions showing up on my Earth, and I have new free characters that match those themes. I haven't counted them, but I'm less concerned about a final count than clear categories. I expect Agents of SHIELD will come in a week or so, along with Doctor Strange and Black Panther. Doctor Strange in particular, watch them make us wait on. LoL I don't mind, but we're going to get that probably with the first trailer of Doctor Strange.

I have NOT completed Age of Ultron's Story, and I am highly thinking that Black Panther will unlock when I finish Hulkbuster mission. Anyone got a confirm on that? Quote this line in your reply. :)

I have the Avengers Explorer Character pack definitely (I have the Scuba and Space Cap and Tony) I don't know if I have the Thunderbolts or not. I have Hyperion and some friends though. Those are the Thunderbolts, or more of the Avengers Explorers? Either way-- it didn't seem to IMMEDIATELY correlate to any action of mine I did. I bought the game, I spent some extra money into it....For a little while it didn't seem like anything happened in response to me spending money....then magically I had Avengers Explorers eventually. I also don't know if I got Hyperion at the same time as I got Scuba and Space suits. (I am a fan of more Cap and Iron Man suits, but I would also like them to do more Thors and Hulks. If it looks like they're just making Cap wierdly copy Tony for no good reason, that's, well, dumb. But if they would give the Founders all equally special treatment, that would just make so much awesome sense. :) Who wants a Grey Hulk?!)

I MOST DEFINITELY do NOT have Ant-Man, or Civil War. I am VERY interested in hearing from anyone who knows how to get those, and who knows how long one might have to wait for results to show up, and what all that should look like. (For example, how Captain Marvel and Masters of Evil are available before Doctor Strange and Agents of SHIELD)

How much of this can I expect to magically appear when I complete Age of Ultron Story, because some people appear to maybe have Ant-Man already, and I KNOW PS4 people have Civil War already (I watched Blitzwinger's walkthrough and ruined a few OMG moments for myself, but watching him be excited almost made up for it), but I DON'T know any Steam users with Civil War?

I am debating with myself whether I should play Captain Marvel's level before Age of Ultron's Story or not, to be my ''Guardians of the Galaxy'' replacement.

I think that the Characters have been truthfully advertised, and the list looks great, but they could have given people a bit more warning about ''Yeah, Captain Marvel shows up first and it's going to be a Surprise when other stuff shows up if you bought the ''40 New Characters'' Season Pass Level Pack" They're not lying or anything, but a little more of the truth could help a lot of people feel relieved.

Seeing as how Marvel is making no more mutants in comics, ended the FF comic, and is pushing the Inhumans etc instead, don't count on seeing any X-Men in anything Marvel/DIsney does until Marvel gets the rights back. This info is out there, Google it. Though I have mixed feelings about it, I have to hand it to Marvel for going all out... even at the expense of what fans might want... in order to devalue the rights that they don't own to try to get them back.

while that is true. thats not why they are missing from the game, or at least not the main reason, Marvel Avengers is actually based on the Marvel/Disney movie stories. so of course the xmen wouldnt be in the game, they werent in any of the MCU movies.
