Missing a few Stan Lees...

Missing 12 of them, but I don't see any of his icons on the map. They're not from levels either.
Do they just not appear and I must find them or something..?

They unlock one at a time, so you will only ever see one Stan Lee icon on the map. I ran into the same issue as you though, where I couldn't see a single icon. It turned out that his small icon was blocked by the bigger icon for a mission level, in this case the gym icon for one of the Deadpool extra missions. Click on the dumbbell icon on the map and if it is indeed blocking anything, you will be given a choice of selecting any other icons in that area.

Yes, I came to that conclusion after following Nono's link - was in the same situation as you were :p
