English Translation
First off, I want to thank the development team for creating an actual English translation for this game. It's something I've been waiting for ever since the game released on Switch.

However, I think there's a lot of places where the translation can be improved. Some lines and terms in the abilities are a bit hard to understand. An example using Chiyari:

Can be activated on the first draw. Places one "oni-bi Fire" somewhere in the river for each player except for herself. When the discarded tiles reach the Fire, the Fire returns to the activator. When the activator wins the game, the number of flips equal to the number of Fire collected is added.

A few things here:
  1. "river" is a direct translation of 河, usually called the "discard pile" in English.
  2. "flips" is a translation of 飜, which is generally kept as han in English. Biten's ability actually does this correctly already.
  3. "game" refers to the current hand. I believe in English, a round (場) of mahjong consists of four hands (局), though I'm not an expert on standard terminology.

A simple improvement to the text for clarity might be:

A bunch of other things I saw, some of these are terms left in romaji where equivalent phrases in English exist:
  • Tsumo-kiri (ツモ切り) = discard their last drawn tile. (Cirno)
  • furos (副露) = calls (Yuyuko)
  • Min-kan (明槓) = open quad (Yuyuko). An-kan (暗槓), Ka-kan (加槓) = closed quad, added quad (Yuuka)
  • "common tiles in your discarded tiles and hand" (自分の河と手牌に共通して存在する牌) = "tiles present in both your hand and discard pile" (Reisen)
  • "draw is biased towards the Wind Tile" (風牌に偏る) = "next 4 draws are guaranteed to be wind tiles as long as the wall contains at least one." (Flandre)
  • 東方地霊殿 in the characters filter is translated as Chireiden instead of the official English title, Subterranean Animism.
  • 東方虹龍洞 in the characters filter is translated as Rainbow Dragon Cave instead of the official English title, Unconnected Marketeers.

All that being said, I'm still very glad that abilities have English translations at all. I'll be looking forward to the full release!

This version of the English translation consists of machine translation(by DeepL) and terminology checking by me, and I feel there is more to improve in many areas.
We will continue to improve the quality of the translation through native translators.

Also, the mistranslations of "地霊殿" and "虹龍洞" were caused by the duplication of location names and game titles. These will also be corrected in future updates.
