EDIT: Whoops, I think I got your problem confused.
Auto run is very weird in this. You'd think it would work like in Trials where you automatically start running if you walk around at full tilt for a bit, but no. It's some weird thing where pressing L3 again twice while running lets you run without having to push the stick forward.
As Honorable_D wrote, B / Circle button does the air dash.
There are instances were a part of the map is marked "friendly" by a quest, in those cases, airdashing and double jumps might be disabled as well.
You have to press L3 twice when you're already running to activate this feature.
It's kinda dumb, tbh.
for KB+M it's "C" key for the dodge/dash, while "shift" is for the sprint/running.
for controllers "L3" is the sprint/running while "B" / "O" is the dodge/dash.
