Playing in Japanese, the mouth movement is definitely made for that.
That being said, the Mana games aren't marvels in that regard, but the instances with closeup high quality cutscenes definitely use Japanese mouth movement.
Still, sometimes, even those are off, mainly with low priority cutscenes where you wouldnt look at the mouth anyway.
Yeah, not long after posting this i decided to test my theory and played it japanese....and low and behold the mouth movement was perfect when i played it using the japanese language. Looks like this game was made with the japanese language in mind
