In the end we will have Microsoft or Tencent with micro transaction apps...

"NetEase has cut all but a handful of jobs at its Ouka studio in Tokyo, according to people familiar with the matter. It intends to shut the Shibuya outfit, which had opened with much fanfare in 2020 and gone on to hire veterans from big names such as Capcom Co. and Bandai Namco Holdings Inc. The few that remain will oversee the rollout of its final games, before the studio winds down."
This means Visions of Mana is a completed game. "The few that remain will oversee the rollout of its final games"

Ah I see. The article didn't mention the game anywhere and on the game steam page says SE as its developer, so I kinda confused how any of this related. If I bought the game (still wishlisting), I might've recognize them (I assume from the splash screen), but I had to google to find out lol.

Sooo... yeah... It's sad.

How can anyone still see the gaming industry as a viable career path when you could get laid off no matter how successful you are?!
A shame indeed. This game is fantastic. I think it's more so China saw how successful Wukong was and decided they don't need a Japanese studio. They can just make the games themselves. Rather than the game not selling enough copies or preorders.

It's a shame, if it's true. The studio really helped creating such a beautiful game, all while sticking to what makes mana games unique. I see some complaints about the port, localization and price. I try never to play square games in English as french and German are much better, and I personally have some nitpicking about combat and some design choices. It's a good game all things considered.
A Switch release would have helped.

The switch port takes time to properly optimize, while keeping the beautiful aesthetics and effects. Or maybe they're waiting on the switch 2.

Just another reason not to buy the game.

I assume you also referring to Hi-fi Rush's developer?
Sadly, no matter how "successful" the game is on the eyes of its players, it's not the type of "success" the corporate wants.

I don't know what that is, but this news is concerning for multiple reasons.

Why are you here, without owning the game, trying to talk the product down?
