The demo convinced me not to preorder
Three reasons why this demo convinced me not to preorder Visions of Mana:

1. This game has one of the most hostile cameras I've ever seen. Outside of combat, the camera will automatically pan in a way that fills the screen with 80% ground or 80% sky. In combat, the ineffective "lock-on" system actively makes your character face in arbitrary directions. When standing still, pressing the attack button sometimes rotates your character model enough that the camera will immediately lock on to a different enemy! The only way I could manage to play was to disable the automatic camera and never use the lock-on feature.

2. The character models feel outrageously lackluster. There is a distinct lack of care in cutscene animation (faces barely move when characters speak, gestures such as simply turning to look at something appears incredibly choppy). Additionally, indistinct shading ends up making everyone look like soulless barbie/ken dolls. In fact, it seems like greater care was given to the mounts you get 15 minutes into the demo than the appearance of some of the main humanoid characters themselves.

3. This singleplayer offline game utilizes Denuvo. Piss off with that nonsense.

In this world, the lack of mana leads to facial paralysis.

the 3. is i agree that. The Demo Version has Denuvo aswell if i understand right (445mb on their exe)
With like less than 6 months after the release version on guess will be removed anyway.

The 2. i agree aswell. Cant believe they really did that. Granblue Fantasy Relink or Wuthering Waves didnt looked like Barbie Dolls compared to this.

Camera on the first i dont have that issue but its actting so weird.

All this one is not a really 60/80 Euro game, its more like a 10-15 euro or less game.

Regarding the camera, it may be a form of censorship. Players manipulating the camera to get choice angles of characters in compromising positions is something game developers are more and more wary of. They went to *incredible* pains to avoid upskirt shots of Tifa in the FF remake, despite having her wear spats in her new outfit.

Suffice to say, Angela and Riesz received a lot of love from the camera in Tirals...

maybe if they put more effort into optimising the pc port instead of those denuvo crap the game/demo won't actually have all these rubbish performance and jarring bugs. Now it doesn't even matter if the game has denuvo or not since i am not buying this broken port.

Don't ever preorder anything.. Just wait to see what others say. I wouldn't even consider any game until there is a sale. Full price is for FOMO customers, I can be patient.

And if everyone did that, there'd be no one to listen to.

FOMO customers are FOMO customers. They´re out there and allways will be.

The stuttering issues and the 30 fps cutscenes did the trick. I'll pass on this one. Shame because i did like Trials of Mana :lunar2019piginablanket:

no stuttering for me, constant 120 fps due to limit. but combat is not like secret of mana, its xenoblade and i hate it.

Visions of Mana feels like it's trying to be like Granblue Fantasy Relink with the open world exploring and such even the stars where to go next.

The difference is in Granblue exploring around the world actually rewards you with better loot.

In Visions of Mana I explored entire first area before I went to the Harbor, and I got one weapon for the Cat from his old friend's house and that's it. Everywhere else I went and fought hard enemies etc I got just restoring items, with no armour or weapons. I also got tons of syrup no idea what it's even for no in-game tutorial explained it's use at all.

The game does stutter a little, enough to be a noticeable annoyance.
That aside, it seems it's going to be a nice, simple JRPG, and I'm down for that.

I'm going to wait and see the feedback on game's optimization before buying.

...You know Denuvo is anti-*tampering*, right? Not anti-cheat? It's anti-*tampering*.

Good for them. Developers are entitled to do whatever they want to do with their product. They're not entitled to my money if I don't like their product.

pre-order bonuses though. from my experience, pre-order + immediate refund lets you keep those bonuses if you do eventually end up buying it.
