Maybe the start of the game is terrible so they wanted to hide it
Plenty of demos are either a specific section of the game or a more made-for-demo-itself campain.
Recent examples include Like a Dragon: Ishin (a combat sandbox) and Sea of Stars (a section a few hours in).
Older examples are the three Bravely games (all uniquely made demos), Triangle Strategy (a section in the middle-ish of the game) and even older we get FF12 (two later sections of the game) and before that FFVIII (the second main 'mission').
And, this game won't be released on Switch.
That said, I'm liking the game but I haven't had the chance to finish the demo. Probably going to preorder it.
