On a monetary level however i wouldn't recommend it anymore. Given that the next game is being released in 1,5 month you'll most likely not get any sales for this one anymore, so in that regard it's better to just get the new game or wait, until the new game gets cheaper, if you don't want to pay full price.
The next game also features a deeper career mode, so that's definitely a reason to buy it anyway, though i can't say anything about how the driving feels, but it shouldn't be that much off with what we've seen in 23.
And yes, there are micro transactions since 2020 iirc (or 2019), though they're mostly cosmetics. You also get some coins for free, so you can get a few things.
As for EA, every game until 2021 was developed and published by Codemasters, since 22 the games are still developed by Codemasters, but published by EA. EA buying the studio however didn't really change anything as far as i can tell (like most people probably wouldn't even know without the EA logo at the start)
so its not bs like buying jay and silent bob of micro like cod games, or something locked in micro lock to win the game etc?
i would say 90 % of the game can be played without these things. The only exception are some F1 World-modes, where you build up your own car with a strange system and then drive against AI cars with it, however that mode is so easy that i highly doubt that the ressources from the battlepass even matter (and even not engaging with this mode, i still get tons of ressources for whatever reason).
But you can easily avoid these things and just keep it at the career or PvP-stuff, where you're using real life cars or multiplayer cars which are the same for each player (so no pay2win)
EA really did a number on the customisations in this game.
Thought that lol
