F1 24 Advice / Race Starts, Duo Career
I have just given F1 24 a try and really enjoying the game. I'm new to the series and using a controller and heavily assisted, which likely won't change as I will play this game casually.

Decided to give this a try at 60 difficulty which feels about right, but one thing I'm really struggling with are assisted starts. Does anyone have any tips on assisted starts at all? (I did try manual starts initially but found that way too awkward on a controller).

Also, seen a couple of adverts for 2 player careers - how do these work exactly? Something I would be really interested in trying out, although I would probably need to play with someone at around the same level and user settings as me for it to be enjoyable both ways.

iam far from an expert but i have been playing for years so this is my advice

theres nothing wrong with using assists do whatever you brings the most enjoyment, however i would suggest to atleast turn off steering/brake assist if you havent already as having the game do the most important part of driving for you kinda defeats the purpose to me

as for assisted start there is no tip really just go full throttle and try to avoid the AI at the start as they can sometimes be a bit slow off the line. manual starts are not too difficult once you get used to them, while the lights counts down try to get the RPM in the sweet spot, iam not sure what the exact spot is but its somewhere around 13k RPM try to anticipate when the light will go out to get going quickly but not to quickly that you jump the start and get a penalty, once you get used to it you can start getting good starts which can help you gain several places at the beginning specially when the AI/other players get a bad start

2 player career is similar to the regular career, you can either play together on the same team to try and get as many constructor points to help your team win the championship or you can be on different teams as rivals to try and see who can finish the season with more points. otherwise its pretty much the same as the single player career

i also use a controller to play, the game works perfectly fine with a controller even more so when you fine tune the options and start using custom setups, you can use a wheel if you want but dont let anyone pressure you into thinking its a must, i've used both wheel and controller and for the F1 games i honestly prefer a controller

Thanks for getting back to me - yeah, I'm not much of a controller gamer in all honesty (always been mouse and keyboard till recently), and I'm skidding on the track quite frequently with all the assists on as it is so it feels about right for me! At least so far.

Did play around with the starts since, still finding them hard but i guess trying to not go full out on the trigger before accelerating when the lights go out has helped a bit - can get into a slightly more manageable position to try hold the others off going into the first corner now.

But, I have figured the more races I have played, 59 is probably the right difficulty with all the assists on (which is max normal I believe), as 60 it feels like I would need to remove assists / do things more manually to be able to start being able to compete well on the harder difficulties. (at least in a race scenario, where no matter how fast i go full out i'm always getting caught up from behind, despite having quicker times on quali - feels kinda scripted in that sense so the assists full on ultimately seems to be holding me back)

But yeah otherwise I'm really enjoying the game so far. I will never invest in a wheel tbh but the game is definitely playable and fun to play on the controller.

I think the Assisted Start will always give the same reaction once the lights all out. Which means there's nothing much you can do about it. Unless you changed it into Manual Starts and reduce or even turn off completely the Traction Control assist. It may awkward at first, but with patience, I'm pretty sure it will be so much better and more enjoyable to fully understand the car under your control.

I can understand the various of controller might give different sensivity or feeling. Try to adjust it that might suits you.

Just remember to take it slowly and gradually, there's no need to rush things. Matter is you enjoy the game.

As for 2 player career, I have no experience myself because I do put all attention only on single career by now. Maybe I could seek another answer here too about this gameplay.

It was on manual initially by default, but really didnt get the hang of that at all so changed it to assisted... figured out a way where i can get at least a reasonable start with it now. it is hit and miss though!

I'm only ever going to play the game casually, as I play another game regularly a few times per week but I find the settings i play suitable enough for me. i'll typically be playing this in a winding down after a day mode, but do have to concentrate to have a successful race as it is now.

If there are any other novice players that fancy giving the 2 player career mode a try do give me a buzz i'll definitely be interested in giving it a go. i like games online so i would probably find it more fun experiencing the game with a team mate than offline.
i could be wrong but iam pretty sure assisted start gives a perfect start everytime so if you dont want to deal with the clutch and RPMs and all that then just stick with assisted until you get more comfortable

like with all things practice makes perfect, i started playing F1 casually then it turned into a hobby for me iam always doing atleast one session a week, as you do the tracks over and over you'll start getting better at them and will eventually be able to raise the AI

as for 2 player, 60 AI is below my skill i will end up lapping everyone if its set to 25% or higher not sure iam the right person for the job

as for online you should continue to find plenty of matches for atleast another year or so atleast until F1 25 gets a heavy sale (thats usually how it goes with the F1 games not everyone switches to the new game day one)

the F1 25 season has the same tracks as 24 just in a different order so unless they add new modes to the game or you want to play as the new rookies in F1 theres no need to rush over to 25 on launch just wait till november or so when it'll drop down to around 10$

It didn't seem to be for me on the assisted starts. I tried just holding it fully down initially, but i'd get a really poor start.

So I then tried to not fully press the R2 button down, but kinda like just hold it lightly to try keep the RPMs at a certain level, sort of like a biting point.

Then when the lights go, i fully press the R2 button down and then the starts were then pretty okay, had a couple of nice ones doing that where i just flew past.

Well if there isn't anyone about I am still enjoying the solo career tbh. Currently doing the driver career one, started in F2 and have joined the Bulls since - my team mate is already trying to ram me off the track each and every opportunity!

yea the AI in the F1 games need an update, they always follow the race line so if they are even a tiny bit faster then you they wont hesitate to put you into the wall, likewise they will also break early on corners and never attack you can use this to break late and almost always pass them in the corners

instead of trying to use AI to make cheaper games EA should focus on using AI to improve the games AI like max will always attack people in corners thats his thing in real life but ingame he will always back out since thats what all the AI are programmed to do none of them have any personality they just follow the same script

Yeah, i was quite surprised actually at how aggressive they were... to the point it was unrealistic tbh, enough that it did kinda ruin that race experience with how that particular collision played out.

So yeah totally agree even from my limited experience so far. That said, if that was fixed, then at least for a player at my level, the races that are already quite competitive and challenging enough to not make a mistake, adding that extra realism would definitely be that missing touch needed to create a really good race experience.

Hopefully they worked on it for the new upcoming game perhaps? Did i somewhere hear this F1 25 might be the final EA F1 game?
I cannot select assisted Start as it is greyed out.
