Career save game corrupted?

After 4 and a bit season my save game seems to have completely corrupted. While on training 2 for Melbourne i started up the "corner gate" training program. The gates didn't appear. That had happened before, and could be fixed by reloading, restarting the training, or restarting the game. But the first 2 options didn't work this time, and crashed the game. When i restarted the game, it failed to load the save file, and crashed again.

I have tried all i could think of: restarting a few times, restarting steam, restarting my computer, checking if the game files are still fine, but none of these fixed the problem.

Has anyone every experienced this before? And if so, is there any way to fix the save file?
