It turns out I was right all along and all the things I predicted (including the death of franchises like Dirt and Grid) actually happened. Gamers are the most gullible group of people ever.
So, the lack of Proton compatibility is not the only problem when trying to get F1 24 to run on the Steam Deck.
Linux makes up around 1,63 % of the playerbase, of which less than half of that plays on the Steam Deck. Not having Linux support most likely doesn't really hurt them as much as you're assuming. I wouldn't even be surprised, that not having any anti-cheat in the past games made them loose more players due to all the negative PR that comes with it the past decade.

Note that Need For Speed Heat is another EA car racing game with a multi-player option and that works fine on Linux with Proton....I guess we'll just have to wait for EA to screw that one up at some point as well!
