Will this ever be a thing? It may encourage modding if it was.

No, it won't. The game is built on Flash, which sadly means it does not cooperate too well with Steam gizmos.

Still, there is a modding scene for the game regardless, and it is perfectly possible to mod the game without the interference from Steam anyway. Simply visit the modding subforum on the developer's official site - Blue Bottle Games[bluebottlegames.com].
