needle and thread
I understand the need for degradation for items in the game but would it be possible add a option for repairing items made of cloth? I would imagine most survivors would try to patch up their clothing or bag if they saw it falling apart. It would be nice if you could do the same in game as well seeing how rare backpacks ,duffles ,and some other clothes are. One way you could do it is to get a needle (small metal parts) and thread and make a sewing kit or have it buyable at the DMC or enclave. To use it you would put a kit and a cloth item into the crafting bar and hit craft and the kit would be used and raise the condition of the item by a preset amount. Or you could have ducktape do something like that. Sorry for taking space if something like this already been suggested

I like that idea too, but I haven't heard any plans of that being implemented in the official version in the near future. However there were mods that allowed repairing last time I checked, and I expect we'll see more of them. I haven't kept up with how far modders got after the big modding overhaul, but there are some great stuff happening there, if you're interested you're bound to find something in the bluebottlegames modding forum.

Don't mean to sound like I'm shooting down the idea, but I think stitching up your clothes is too minor an activity to include in the game explicitly. I'd much rather prefer the durability of an item was set in such a way as to assume the player has needle and thread and will do repairs when appropriate automatically. So when an item drops to 0%, it means it is fallen apart so bad it's now beyond repair.

A needle and thread kit takes so little room and it is so easy to make from very common materials, that everybody will just carry one and do a few extra clicks to repair their clothes anyway. Let's save player's time for more exciting things to do in the game.

Thats a good point but how would you know if you have a kit when you wake up almost naked in a pod? It could also be a hold item that slows the rate of decay.

hi i think if the feature was to make it in the game, it would add to the satisfaction of being able to carry out field repairs when the player wishes to, (eg to do it when needed, or to do it when doing so would help the player use up some items that he doesnt have space to carry, and therefore add some more satisfaction to the game) :)
I think thats a good idea. I also think it should require the "Tailor" skill.
Lets be honest here, not everyone can sew to save their lives.
